(CNN) -- One bee after you is bad enough. What about thousands?
A man in Arizona died after being stung more than an estimated 100 times.
An exterminator said based on the size of the hive, there were about 800,000 bees.
Douglas Fire Chief Mario Novoa said his department answered a call Wednesday morning and when the crew arrived they found five people stung by bees and the bees still swarming.

While some of the emergency responders treated the victims, other firefighters went around the neighborhood warning residents to close their windows and stay inside.

(51,076 posts)knocked a hornets nest down while out cutting wood one day and thought wow this is neat so he threw it in with the fire wood and took it home. Some time during the early morning hours he was awaken to a bunch of hornets in his house and they were mad as hell. He fled and left the doors open and when his house cooled back down the hornets made it back to the nest and then he took it back outside. LOL He said it was touch and go there for a few days though.
Hornets are big ass bees, Think honey bee and make it about 10 times larger and you get the picture.
We were throwing rocks at a nest one time when I was a kid and one came out of the nest and flew straight at me, hit me in the chest and about knocked me down. Luckily it didn't sting me

And hornets nests are nothing to ever tangle with if you aren't wearing fully body protection gear.

Better to be safe than sorry.

She called the USDA (United States Department of Agriculture) and they sent someone out to safety remove the bees.
