LINCOLN — The campaign to raise Nebraska’s minimum wage has topped the $1 million mark.

In its latest campaign statement, Nebraskans for Better Wages reported donations of $1.2 million and spending of $1.1 million through the end of September.

The group led the petition drive that got Initiative 425 on the Nov. 4 ballot. It is now leading the campaign to get the proposal passed.

If approved by voters, Initiative 425 would raise the state’s minimum wage to $9 an hour in two steps. The current minimum wage is $7.25 an hour.
