Teacher Alex Bahe started his Advanced Placement U.S. History class dropping names that needed no introduction to his Elkhorn South students.
John Marshall. Alexander Hamilton. Thomas Jefferson.
I believe we left off here, Bahe said in a class last week, talking about Aaron Burr.
The students whipped out pencils and began scribbling notes as fast as Bahe talked. He sprinted through a recap of Burr, the former vice president who killed Hamilton in a duel and later was accused of treason for plotting to claim the Louisiana Purchase for his own. But since Burr hadnt tried to carry out the alleged conspiracy, Marshall, as the chief justice of the Supreme Court, made the significant call to acquit.
