He believes in nothing except that it's his fate to wield great power

and frankly that makes him as scary to me as bushco. In fact, I can't believe I'm saying this, but I find him even more despicable than bushco- though I don't see how that's possible. There is nothing that this shitbird won't do to become President. Why? What motivates him? Is it his religion? Is it his dad having suffered humiliation in the political realm?

What?

Even if it contradicts something he said 30 seconds ago or we have tape of him saying the exact opposite thing an hour or a year or 10 years ago.

He seems to actually go by the Costanza line "It's not a lie... if you believe it..."

To lie, one has to know the truth. To know the truth, one has to have a grip on reality.
Name just one prominent Republican that can even define reality, let alone exists in it. You can't, because none of them let reality sway them.
So how can they be lying?

to wield great power. Having been born at the top of a hierarchical society, he believes not only that this is his fate, but that it is also in the best interest of the entire system that it should be so. This is how it's supposed to be.

This is also why he is so unable to see how his words affect other people. He's never had to deal with other people. He's always been at the top of a structure that believes in its own righteousness.

I just don't buy that it's because he was born at the top. Thousands are born at the top. They don't all believe they're fated to be prez.

who were born to privilege. Because that means him, and people like him. Maybe there's a 'God's will' element to it, there usually is. If you're born into privilege a benevolent God who wants you to be there, is a very comforting thought.

"I wouldn't want to belong to a club that would have me for a member."

And how that applies to politics is, we, the American people shouldn't want someone for President who actually thinks he's entitled to the job.

Parliamentary democracy, where the temporary leader is supposed to be the first among equals, is a step in the right direction, but politics by leader should be put completely in the past. We have the technology now to have rule by plebiscite. We can poll the voting age public and ask them if they want to remain in Afghanistan, tax the rich, or have single-payer health care. All those a overwhelmingly favored, yet the people who get elected to office immediately find excuses not to act on the wishes of the people.

Even this would be a better way:

In fact, a HUGE part of the problem is Congress. THEY are the ones that stall legislation that is popular, because so many of them are busy feathering their own nests without regard for the people that elect them.

Local and State elections are in many ways more important than the presidential election - but on this one, I certainly won't sit by idly. Romney is horrible, and would be a disaster.

Yikes, that this overt shit-heel is a candidate of either major party should scare the Be-Jesus (or Be-Joseph Smith or whatever) out of all of us.

He has none, along with his constant barrage of lies. He pals around with a guy that was involved in killing, skinning and barbecuing a dog.

There is no way to look at that except to say there is a distinct and utter lack of empathy. It's reflected in every thing he says, and every thing he does.

This pitching a fit because someone told it like it was - that their entire family was born into and remains in privilege - is an attempt to make it seem like they are real people. They just don't get that most Americans know they are nothing but wealthy, privileged slime balls that will say and do anything for wealth and power.

I don't know how anyone could vote for Romney, and frankly, I don't know any conservatives that have said they WILL vote for Romney. Certainly no one is in a rush to get to the polls to vote for him here in the South. You can tell that by how he has barely scraped by. If we didn't have the choice to vote for Obama, I MIGHT go so far as to freaking vote for Newt if I had a choice between only him and Romney. At least with Newt you know what you are going to get. With Romney? There is just no way to tell.

In any case, thank God I'm not a Republican and thank God Obama is a choice. He's far from perfect but considering what the other side has, there is no possible way I could consider voting for anyone else and risk having Romney or Newt get in there.

That thinks he's more dangerous than Bushco. He's petty, has no empathy, and you have no idea which Romney will present himself on any given day. He would be a disaster for US foreign policy. And I can't believe I'm agreeing with you by saying he's worse than Bush.

There is an underlying uneasy feeling when confronted by Mitt Romney, and you and I are certainly far from the first to notice it. Even a lot of conservatives and Republicans feel it. It's like he's a robot, programmed to say and do anything to increase his wealth and power. It has nothing to do with envy of his "success", it's uneasiness at the lengths he will go to for wealth and power - and a lot of Americans feel it.
