latest poll numbers in IA not encouraging but early voting is strongly dem...

As of 9/28/14 per Secretary of state's office re: Absentee Voting:

Democrats have reequested 81,937 absentee ballots while Republicans have requested 42,145--No party has 31,288 requests. Democratic requests are strongest in the 2nd Congressional District (24,403 dem requests, 9,974 GOP, & 9784 No party) while GOP is strongest in the Fourth Congressional district, but even there Democratic requests outnumber GOP 14,316-11,222.

In the third congressional district where a very competitve open seat for Congress is playing out Dem requests outnumber GOP requests for absentee ballots by 21,810-10,956--with no party requests at 7,138.

The Dems have long said that they can make up for some polling deficits with their 'ground game' and lets hope this is the case.

These numbers will be updated daily.

Note: In 2010 the entire number of early voters was 349,216 & Dems won that by 43.7-38.0-18.2 (No Party)--we will have to watch the trends in 2014 and see where the final numbers fall.

according to wiki, the state is evenly split between Democrats and Republicans, as far as those indicating a party affiliation.

Also, Dubya took the state by 10k votes in 2004.

The Democrats ground game is what will win us Iowa, Colorado, and Arkansas.
