I've had up to 15 emails everyday begging for money. And this election cycle they have been raw in the "guilt" language like "IF you don't send at least $3 by midnight YOU are to blame for losing the election. I'm thinking about unsubscribing to every one of these Dem sites.
Example.
The ActBlue report says it all: Were FAILING. Democrats will lose if things dont change NOW, Mason.
If we dont raise $22,138 by midnight, Republicans will LIE and CHEAT and suppress OUR voters because top Democrats like YOU DID NOTHING to stop them.
ITS A GOP DREAM:
Well LOSE in Wisconsin.
Well LOSE in Kansas and Florida.
Well let WENDY DAVIS LOSE in Texas.
If we dont have $22,138 by MIDNIGHT DEMS WILL LOSE EVERYWHERE.
ALL GIFTS DOUBLED TO STOP A NATIONAL DEMOCRATIC FAILURE IN THE MAKING:
If you've saved payment info with ActBlue Express, your donation to the DGA will go through immediately:

I'd donate the absolute maximum allowable under the law, if I could afford it.

(4,879 posts)I guess I have been mistaken by your posts. It seems the 3rd way isn't helping your pocket book either.
Personally, I would like to see a bit more socialism and a lot less corporatism .
That Hillary avatar is a bit confusing. I hope all works out for you.

(53,339 posts)If you want your voters to go the polls, I don't think it helps to constantly suggest the election is already lost before it begins. I guess it must be effective as a fundraising tactic because they continue to do it. But emails with those headlines go straight to my trash.

(5,158 posts)Most of them get deleted without even reading them. I don't care for these scare tactics and don't really think they are effective. I have donated in the past, and if the Democrats put up a worthwhile candidate in 2016 I will donate then, too. But until then, they aren't getting any more of my $.

(4,742 posts)I just sit around and think about starting threads like this. I was curious if others were fed up with these frankly ridiculous email blasts like I am. Or maybe I was wrong. I was just seeing what people thought of it. This, the last time I checked, was a discussion board about politics. Therefore I am discussing. What ideal posts would you like to see?

(4,840 posts)They're designed to get people to donate. The more they send, the more donations they are likely to get. Doesn't mean you have to donate all the time. If you already gave your regular donation, don't worry about it. I don't let it bug me.

I just deleted almost 2000 emails begging for money. That was one weeks worth.
Yet, not one of them have answered my questions about the working poor.
hunter
(38,309 posts)So many "working poor" work much harder than those who enjoy good credit and investment income.
Ordinary laboring people deserve a larger piece of the pie.
I believe the uber-wealthy ought to be taxed out of existence.
Everyone would be much happier, even the uber-wealthy.

(1,428 posts)to contribute directly to the candidate I support. I avoid contributions to the party HQ as they rarely support the candidates I wish to support.
If the Democratic party put some real money into the campaign of an opponent of Daryl Issa the country could retire him at any time.

(23,664 posts)Failed to spend it wisely and in races where it would do the most good. Instead it all went to their DINO buddies, so from now on the only contributions I make will be targeted donations for candidates of my choice, not DNC or any other umbrella organization.

I understand the Pete Petersons, Sheldon Adlesons and Koch Brothers are financially propping up the American Taliba er... Republican Party and that Dems - with only us piss-poor, struggling and/or unemployed people to support them mostly, but you can't squeeze blood out of a rock or a turnip.
The bottom line is: WE. CANNOT. COMPETE. WITH. $400 MILLION. FROM. KOCHS. TO. BUY. 44,OOO ADS. EVERY. ELECTION. SEASON. (and that doesn't take into account Adelson, Peterson and the rest of the rich bastards and corprats buying themselves their favorite diabolical shithead politician to help them do their dirty deeds).
We just CAN'T.
So. The solution is for DEMOCRATIC politicians and DEMOCRATIC VOTERS to get their asses busy and make it a #1 priority to OVERTURN CU and RESTORE the goddamned VRA or something that does the same thing the VRA does. Until that happens (at the very least) - there's nothing else we can do but give our measely few bucks and VOTE VOTE VOTE.
That's it.

I can't afford to give people money . I'm a student, and an unpaid intern. The money I do make from my other part time job goes to my loans.
Forget the fact that the far left is demonized by the mainstream dems anyway.

(3,709 posts)Getting the same emails.... I'm in danger of losing my membership in the DCCC and all kinds of guilt trips... I support the party and candidates as much as I can but I'm not happy being made to feel like a deadbeat. Well... I don't feel that way but it's annoying.

(2,116 posts)Please think about that before posting these "I hate these damn money requests" posts, OK? Most of these candidates are spending every bit of energy they have to try to make this world a better place. They have dedicated their lives to it.
Unfortunately (just ask Senator Sanders) most are forced to spend all of that energy dialing for dollars, as well as most of their staff, if they have that much.
Really, if this bothers you, do something about it. No, this is not guilt, no do not send money if you do not want to, but change funding of elections.
Otherwise, it is just idle banter, and it smacks of wanting to dilute what Dems (this is a Democratic supporting site) can raise. Either way, cut it out. The election is upon us. Make us win!

(735 posts)Anytime I donate or sign a petition, I've learned that the next step is to unsubscribe from all the crap I just signed up for in the process of the donation/signing the petition. It makes it easy to still participate without having to deal with the begging/end of the world emails.

(33 posts)I got one from the DCCC that said the following:
"Democrats are facing a significant fundraising shortfall that could cost us the 2014 election. Meanwhile, Boehner's cash has allowed him to launch the biggest TV ad blitz of the entire election just this week.
Your area (zip code 98---) has been identifed as a signficant contributor to this problem." My emphasis added)
Nothing says "Give us money" like "YOU'RE THE PROBLEM!"

From now on, my donations will be by USPS money order and I am putting a phony return address on the money order. That's the only way I can think of to shield my email and snail mail addresses.
God knows I'm a hardcore, lifelong Democrat but it's become too much.
In fact, I am now receiving snail mail solicitations from Republican and Tea Party groups!!!

(81,194 posts)But they seem to come back - or something. Or maybe these are the same campaigns but other staffers sending them? I'm really getting tired of it, too. And the pisser is - I just gave!!! I just gave!!! I gave to the DNC, the Senatorial campaign, and the Governors campaign. Gave to all three of 'em. Just a couple of days ago!!! And THEN they were all begging and desperate and hope is lost and everybody has a sob story and everybody needs money... What did they do with what I just gave them? And I tried to wait and watch for "double your gift" or "your donation will be tripled!" and pitch in on those, because even a little goes farther then. And dammit - here they come again! All DAY!
I hate to delete or unsubscribe, and yes I want them to win, but dammit, I JUST FRICKIN' GAVE!!!! I gave ALREADY. And they still want more! But I gave already. Don't have any more. So 'fraid I'm DONE for awhile.
Duval
(4,280 posts)and I can hardly stand the ones who keep emailing after telling them you can't give any more. And then the flipping robocalls, although our phone is on the "Do not call list". I get emails Begging us to donate and sometimes trying to make me feel guilty for not giving more.
And then there are the emails from all over the country asking for $5.00 for their local politicians.

(8,812 posts)I completely agree with you.
If we buy into the idea that the cause that earns the most money is the cause that will succeed, we are screwed.
(I have a hunch we already are.)
P.S. Vote for President-elect Hillary. She has the potential to raise the most money. Don't worry about her actual policies. They don't really matter.

(9,808 posts)If I was a general, low to moderate information voter, on a tight time schedule, who just checked subject lines before hitting delete and I received these messages, I would schedule a trip to Belize for the first week of November. What would be the point of voting, since we have already lost, we're finished, we're doomed, et cetera.
I don't know who they have doing their email fund raising, but they're Not Helping.
Please consider antidepressants, DCCC. Because that's not a normal sadz.
