When Religious Freedom Can Allow Refusal Of Legal Public Services Because Of Belief We Are Done.

If individuals in the public service can parse out services based on their stone age beliefs we will have chaos. It is not possible to function as a society under such conditions. The madness in the middle east is what we will have here if we allow such sadistic and deadly nonsense. If you are in public service and want to operate in such a way you should be fired. forced to resign or quit first.

If that is interfering with your religious liberty I say Fuck YOU. I will not allow you to practice in such a way. I will force you out in some way because you are not qualified to deal with the public. And if you choose to run your business so you can discriminate along religious lines I will make you lose your business.

There will be a time when we will be forced to fight these fools in the public arena.

There are many services in the medical field where some religions have trouble with. Some religions refuse certain kinds of care. Birth control and reproductive care are the most obvious. However there are taboos about blood transfusions, perhaps certain kind of medicines. There are slo belief systems where prayer alone is considered the only option.

Then there are people who refuse to serve gays, lesbians, transexuals or other groups because of religion. Taken to their illogical conclusion a health care worker could conceivable refuse to help a sick or dying patient because of who they are.

The religious freedom meme is bullshit and should be confronted and denied as an argument.

The birth control issue is ongoing and, eventually, birth control will have to be covered.

I have not seen anything about emergency services being refused based on the religion of EMTs--at least not in this country.

I have also not seen anything about a doctor refusing health services to a gay person.

Maybe there are news stories I have missed?

I have not seen any particular story where services were denied. Having said that the rebranding meme the GOP is using re: "religious liberty" or "religious freedom" is a potentially dangerous scheme. As far as birth control is concerned there is a concerted effort to eventually deny it in this country in the form of personhood laws. Some pharmacists and some doctors will no provide birth control pills due to "conscience". Catholic hospitals will not provide any sterilization techniques. That much is happening.

Certain businesses like the cake lady would to bake wedding cake for some gays. And there are homophobic statements and pushes to discriminate against gays and other classes of people because of who they are based on religious beliefs.

Now I was raised Catholic and went to Catholic schools for 16 1/2 years through college and have virtually a major in theology and philosophy based on all the courses I had to take. I rejected Catholicism when I was 23 in 1967 about the time I graduated from a Catholic college.

The Church has become quite radical in the public realm since then. At that time the primary teaching was that you could carry you faith and it was preferable that you keep that faith private. Now the Church is in the converting mode publicly and trying to set public policy that effect non believers just like the fundamentalists who are demanding that we make this a Christian nation.

They are trying to do this using back door means like the "religious freedom" strategy. They are saying that they can refuse to obey any public law, provide any legal public service, discriminate in a public way, etc based on their "conscience" or religious belief.
That is bullshit. What they want is really no different than radical moslems push, except they are not killing people yet.

I worked in public service and provided services like referral to caseworkers where a woman might choose an abortion. If I were a practicing Catholic I would still have to do that being a public servant and separate my supposed "conscience" from being a public servant. If my "conscience" were that bothered then my choice would have to be to NOT do that kind of work. In principle where I worked as a caseworker at DOL I could NOT interfere with the person's right to have a legal referral nor interfere with their right to make "their" decision.

These assholes are crossing the line by marrying their religion with government or public services where it does NOT belong. As far as I am concerned they are using the "religious freedom" crap to force their beliefs on non believers of their faith. And appose such activity and will push back in every way.

If they want to push that crap then go to the Middle East where such ideas and practices are rampant.

My motto. Keep you dumb ass religion to yourself.
