Man charged with abduction of Hannah Graham was 'expelled after girl claimed he raped her on campus'

Jesse 'LJ' Matthew, the man charged with the abduction of missing UVA student Hannah Graham, was accused of rape when he studied at Liberty University, MailOnline can exclusively reveal.

Matthew was expelled from the Christian university founded by Jerry Falwell in Lynchburg, Virginia, in 2002, following the alleged sex attack on a female student but was not charged with any crime, former teammates said.

Police announced last night that Matthew was arrested in Galveston, Texas, after going on the run. He appeared in court there this morning charged with Hannah's abduction 'with intent to defile' and is awaiting extradition to Virginia.

As a gifted football player, 'LJ' - as he likes to be known - won a sports scholarship to Liberty University after he was named Charlottesville's 'Athlete of the Year' in 1999.

Liberty kicked this animal off the team and out of school after the accusations were made.

It was the local prosecutor that didn't charge him.

Or maybe you think that all athletes are sexual predators and all colleges should drop scholarship sports.

2. Yes, it is time to take seriously violence, this happens many more times than is reported.

Nasty comments coming from the popcorn section needs to be put out to pasture. He was expelled but apparently nothing else. He had the one reported but how many unreported ones, where was the criminal charges. They get away too many times. No one is entitles to force themselves upon another.

3. Maybe someday someone will come up with a cure for rapists and molesters.
