a female President. If it is Hillary or some other woman becomes President. How do you think they will react seeing a woman in a "man's role" For the duggar style quiver movement who think it is a sin for a woman to wear pants how will they react to see a woman wearing jeans or shorts let alone a pant suit.
Yeah, we don't have man but it won't take much to have one of them snap.

(34,136 posts)Though most people refer to it as the "Jefferson Bible."
In fact, Jefferson was devoted to the teachings of Jesus Christ. But he didnt always agree with how they were interpreted by biblical sources, including the writers of the four Gospels, whom he considered to be untrustworthy correspondents. So Jefferson created his own gospel by taking a sharp instrument, perhaps a penknife, to existing copies of the New Testament and pasting up his own account of Christs philosophy, distinguishing it from what he called the corruption of schismatizing followers.
<SNIP>
Much of the material Jefferson elected to not include related miraculous events, such as the feeding of the multitudes with only two fish and five loaves of barley bread; he eschewed anything that he perceived as contrary to reason. His idiosyncratic gospel concludes with Christs entombment but omits his resurrection. He kept Jesus own teachings, such as the Beatitude, Blessed are the peace-makers: for they shall be called the children of God. The Jefferson Bible, as its known, is scripture by subtraction, writes Stephen Prothero, a professor of religion at Boston University.

Smithsonian Channel has a lovely documentary about the preservation of one of the originals that Jefferson created interspersed with information about Jefferson's beliefs and why he created this version of the New Testament. Unfortunately, Smithsonian Channel is not widely available - but if you ever get a chance to watch the program, it is well worth it.

(3,212 posts)But most Christians see exceptions in the bible, particularly the Old Testament.
Just that the 99% of women are not supposed to be the exception.

(3,212 posts)The longer we go, the less of a fan I am of Hillary, although I voted for her in the primaries. I'm just sick of the corporate masters controlling her, but they sure control Obama, as well, so I don't know that we're going to do any better.

I get that you disagree with with their values...that they aren't liberal, but jesus, really? To lump them into a group of people who chop off heads and fly airplanes into buildings? Are you really that intolerant of other lifestyles?

Not trying to be difficult. I just don't see everything in life through an 'ism' lens. Sometimes it's about policy positions.

(5,169 posts)Then I support violent, armed people acting under the color of law to stop them. Preferably by capture, with humane treatment if they quit the fight, but if they refuse to surrender - do what is necessary to stop them from bombing, raping, and beheading.
