Daesh?

According to Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius of France:

"This is a terrorist group and not a state," ... "I do not recommend using the term Islamic State because it blurs the lines between Islam, Muslims and Islamists. The Arabs call it 'Daesh' and I will be calling them the 'Daesh cutthroats.' "

Any opinions?

It seems more and more Western media are using the derogatory DAESH when they’re talking about the Islamic State in Iraq and as-Shām (commonly known as ISIS).

As nobody seems to have the faintest idea what DAESH stands for, here’s an attempt to explain.

The capitals in the word DAESH point out it is an acronym of some sort. And indeed if we single out the beginning letters of the Arabic name for ISIS : الدولة الاسلامية في العراق والشام

we get the Arabic: داعش

د = Dawlat (Nation)
ا = (al-) Islāmiyya
ع= (fī’l-) ‘Irāq
ش = (wa’s-) Shām (Greater Syria or the Levant)

...ISIS since it isn't Iraq or Syria. Just looking for a name that's clear.

Give me a break.

They are nothing more than death squads and mercenaries funded and trained by the military industrial complex to commit mass genocide against the indigenous people in the middle east and to keep the war machine going.

Time the the military, Obama and mad, mad mass media do the same.

And McCain and Lindsay are irrelevant, only the major media clings to them as fellow war mangers.

Boo.

given my post earlier today asking the same question. It seems to be what the northern Iraqis are calling this group.
