A dozen teabaggers can make national news. A few hundred thousands dirty hippies, not so much.

Sunday News Shows Ignore Historic Climate March
No Mention Of The People's Climate March On Meet The Press, Face The Nation, State Of The Union, Or Fox News Sunday

Meet the Press, Face the Nation, State of the Union, and Fox News Sunday ignored the event, which is being touted by participants as "the largest mobilization against climate change in the history of the planet." The Nation editor and publisher Katrina vanden Heuvel briefly mentioned the march on ABC's This Week while arguing that national security concerns surrounding climate change are not receiving adequate attention.

Environmental group 350.org has estimated that "hundreds of thousands" of people will participate in the event. According to MSNBC.com, "participants include dyed-in-the-wool environmental activists, but also elected officials, union members, nationwide community organizing groups, LGBT groups, members of indigenous communities, students, clergy members, scientists, private citizens, and a plethora of other concerned parties" all representing 1,400 partner organizations.

While environmentalists and others march in New York, activists worldwide will participate in 2,700 events held across more than 150 countries. The march comes days before world leaders will meet on September 23 at the United Nations to hold a climate summit. United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon will join marchers during the September 21 event in New York, saying at a news conference, "I will link arms with those marching for climate action."

This momentous event, however, was of little interest to Sunday news shows, which devoted zero segments to the march. The event was mentioned just once on ABC's This Week.

Hey look, wanna talk about getting ignored: I marched in 2006 in an immigrants' rights march in Chicago that is estimated to have had more than 400,000 people. Not only was it barely noticed in the media ... but here we are eight years later, and still nothing on immigration reform. And that's a lot easier to fix than climate change.

All I can say is: keep marching.

and those who continue to say that President Obama hasn't been using the bully pulpit now see proof that it doesn't exist anymore. Our Fourth Estate has been cleverly replaced with corporate propaganda-media.

As much as I hate to say it, but we've got to hand it to the Conservatives in this country: they've perfected the concept of "bait 'n' switch" - unfortunately, pnly to our detriment.

News casts and discussions? Or why so many other stories are over blown and fill the air waves? This is why I try to tune to international news sources weekly also alternative domestic media.
J Q Public is being fed a one sided bunch of crap and most of them seem happy based on ratings with it, or do not care to hear the truth IMO .

it works for the other guys. They are allowed. I wonder what would happen if the dirty hippies tried that one? I'm trying to remember how many armed tea baggers were rounded up by mounted police and herded into a fenced parking lot…

I still am incredulous at the thinking over in freeperland. When Arnold was our governor, he held a press conference about the impact of climate change on California and how the rising sea level threatens the coast. One freep after another joined the laugh parade and was filled with glee over the thought of San Francisco under water. Not one of them knew the whole state of Florida would be the first to go under.
