Second Russian aid convoy enters eastern Ukraine.

Despite continued Ukrainian delaying tactics, intended to keep up the pressure on civilians in besieged Separatist enclaves, a second convoy of much needed Russian relief supplies is finally moving westward across the border.

First trucks of Russia’s second Ukraine aid convoy cross border

The first 70 trucks in Russia’s 2nd convoy carrying long-awaited humanitarian aid for the devastated areas of eastern Ukraine have crossed the border after weeks of delays, despite an agreement on relief corridors as part of Minsk ceasefire deal.

Residents of war-ravaged eastern Ukraine are living for many weeks on the brink of a humanitarian catastrophe. The aid delivery is crucial as parts of the country remain blocked by government troops limiting food supplies, while the infrastructure destroyed in shellings left the residents of Lugansk without electricity and drinking water.

The first trucks had passed through Russia’s ‘Donetsk’ checkpoint into the buffer zone shortly before midnight on Friday, local customs spokesman Rayan Farukshin told RIA Novosti. Trucks then had to wait for some five hours to get clearance from Russian customs officers and their Ukrainian collegues for further movement.

This is the second Russian shipment of humanitarian relief for Ukraine, and just like with the first shipment of goods, the Ukrainian authorities are being over-scrupulous in letting the aid in, keeping it at the border. The aid delivery has been delayed because Kiev did not fulfill the preliminary plan coordinated with Russia three weeks ago, Stepanov said. “We've been waiting for Kiev's response,” he said on Thursday. He described the convoy as carrying about 2,000 tons of foods, medicine, water purification equipment, and power generators and other consignments, all donations from various regions of Russia.

Or did you just miss the part about, ". . . carrying about 2,000 tons of foods, medicine, water purification equipment, and power generators?"

3. I don't get the whole up in arms thing about RT

The NYT is a right-wing rag except when it comes to social issues, then they're typical limousine liberals. The Washington Post is a paper dedicated to the proposition that Social Security is a pernicious evil that must eradicated. The LA Times just had a reporter get caught disseminating CIA propaganda in the US. The cable news networks can be summed up as Full of Shit (Fox), See No Evil (MSNBC), and Clueless (CNN). NBC, CBS, FOX, ABC? Did they all not cheerlead for the Iraq War? Do they all not make ridiculous claims regarding the economy on a nightly basis, pointing to a PE-powered rise in housing prices or a ZIRP-fueled rise in the stock market as proof that happy days are here again?

For that matter, foreign media isn't necessarily better. The BBC just had a right-wing reporter trying to play gotcha with Alex Salmond over the independence vote next week. Al Jazeera isn't bad when covering most of the world, but they're worse than Fox when it comes to the Middle East. The Economist went from a right-wing rag that at least did decent coverage of world news to an adjunct in spirit of the WSJ.

Given that the media in this country was readily complicit in starting an unprovoked war of aggression in one country already, I have to wonder why anybody takes their word, with no qualification whatsoever, when it comes to the current situation in Ukraine. It's not that I find RT particularly better in any regard, honestly I've only watched their TV channel a few times just because it's fun to see views of Moscow that aren't Red Square, but that I doubt they can be much worse. Even if they're helping Putin wage an aggressive war, they're still 10 years behind the Times (pun definitely intended).

I always appreciate unprovoked condescension.

That being said, if elements of both the nominal right and left push certain policies that those outlets endorse, does that make those positions automatically right-wing, using your pronouncement, or would a different label be better for the purpose of differentiating those policies from their opposite?

Edit #4000 or so: You know, never mind. We're way off topic. The only point I wanted to make is that it's a bit silly to continually treat RT as beyond the pale when most of the esteemed sources are regularly full of it.

This OP is not about RT News at all. That being so, would you mind staying with the topic of the relief convoy? Thanks so much.

Unsurprising really, we know how this played out last time.

Ukraine won't fall for a ceasefire again, if they do, they will be fools.

11. And the people besieged in Donetsk and Lugansk, what about them?

Is the rest of the World just supposed to let them suffer hunger, thirst and want of medical supplies? We wouldn't let wild animals be treated the way those people are being treated by our fascist allies.

They are inviting civilian casualties and in fact it appears that's what they want. They commit nothing less than war crimes. You don't use the city and civilians as human shields, that's a war crime, but the rebels don't seem to care. We saw today UA soldiers bodies desecrated and at least one was proven to be executed, the rebels are malicious, evil, invaders as far as I'm concerned.

They are not, after all, attacking Kiev. Kiev is attacking them. Right?

As to your claims of atrocities committed by the self-defense forces: If such acts have been committed by either side in the conflict, those guilty must be punished, but not before their guilt is proven. And remember, Collective Punishment of an entire population is itself a very serious war crime.
