We know where Hillary, Bernie Sanders, and Elizabeth Warren stand. They are either sellouts to the MIC, or naive about them.
Dennis Kucinich is against military action in Iraq and Syria, but he's associated with Ron Paul and Fox News.
I wonder where Vermin Supreme stands?

There will probably be some kind of ISIS attack on American soil in the not too-distant future, simply because their primary strategy is to provoke us into attacking them, and they will keep trying as long as they are able, escalating the barbarity of their attacks as they go. If we retaliate, they become martyrs and the recruits flow in; if we do not, then we are portrayed as a toothless giant, and the recruits flow in.
The Saudis, for one, have nothing to lose by sitting back & quietly supplying ISIS while egging us on to attack them, playing their favorite game of "Let's you & them fight.".
Would you want to be an American politician who declined to attack an enemy and then had that enemy do something really awful inside our borders? The media and the opposition would destroy you.
I still say that the most rational course is to maybe provide quiet, low-key support in the form of intelligence and money to carefully selected Middle Eastern governments, but to keep ourselves out of it physically and take whatever hits we have to. But this is a politically untenable approach.

(5,937 posts)CNN and other outlets, Fox of course, plaster the images of the soon to be beheaded journalists and we assume, or at least initially think that majority of Americans are demanding action, and fast. I am not seeing it. I work in a fairly large office setting, I see people off the street daily, from all back grounds and no one is talking about it. I think beside not wanting any more of this, most Americans have their noses too deep into their smart phones to notice. This is probably a good time to jump back into war footing in Iraq, and encroach into Syria because the public is mostly preoccupied. Just my observations. I think a firm anti-war candidate would be very popular right now. IMO.

(10,044 posts)Only after Congress introduces a bill (its responsibility by the way) regarding war with ISIS and the methods the President employs to win that war. The chicken congress says that there's no time (Peter King) and that the President should go ahead and start bombing in earnest....(that way they can impeach him for overstepping his branch's authority)....and still take credit if he is successful.
Please send your Rep & Senators an email, it's really easy, and tell them it's their responsibility to help plan this war, and that you want a full debate and live vote on the ISIS issue. We need to know their positions....some of them may actually be knowledgeable and helpful, and the others will show how dumb they are...
Boots on the ground, funding, who are allies, who aren't, drones, so much to discuss that we should know. It shouldn't be left to the President because it's a SHARED responsibility and the President is not a hawk....
Thanks....
