http://www.bbc.com/news/science-environment-28967746From the article:
An engraving found at a cave in Gibraltar may be the most compelling evidence yet for Neanderthal art.
The pattern, which bears a passing resemblance to the grid for a game of noughts and crosses, was inscribed on a rock at the back of Gorham's Cave.

(21,317 posts)Perhaps it was a Neanderthal university lecture hall.
Honestly, the more I learn about them, the more I think they have gotten a bad rap from modern humans.

(14,177 posts)Is that some people came from the the South Asian Island groups by boat several thousand years before anyone came over the land bridge.
Thought it about the Neanderthals.

(14,177 posts)someone saying it wasn't possible confused me, since I was pretty sure it actually happened. Now they have found about 1-3% of Neanderthal DNA in modern humans. I think that is amazing since Neanderthals are long gone. I think what drove them to extinction is that humans had a more efficent way of communicating and it gave them an advantage for resouces like game and better places for gathering vegetation. The modern humans had more complex drawings for example the cave drawings in France those may have told a story of how and where to hunt that would be passed down through generations. I also think women were the artists and not men as it is supposed.
