There would have been no "stimulus" bill to save the jobs of teachers, firemen, and policemen, in the various states. Actually about a third of the "stimulus" went to these causes. Another third went to pay for small taxcuts for every worker in America. Most did not even know they got a tax cut. Another third was marked for "shovel-ready" jobs, including green jobs for new energy sources. If the Repubs had won, we could have saved this $750 billion dollars. Then, we must ask, what would have been the impact in an economy that was headed to the bottom?

Also, if the Repubs had won the last election, there would have been no bailout of GM or the auto companies. How many millions of jobs would that have impacted? What would be the present unemployment rate if the Repubs had won? Consider that we were losing 750,000 jobs per month when Obama took office. (That is an average of 9 million jobs per year!) What would the Republicans have done to stop that hemorrhage of job losses? Would they have cut taxes even more? Would they have found more regulations to do away with?

Yes, we can only imagine where we would be today if the Repubs had won. However, it doesn't take much imagination to see that a lot more people would be suffering under the Republicans budget balancing charades and spending cuts on programs for the poor and needy. It's not a pretty picture.

Republicans are depending on voters to forget the disaster they left behind. They want to return to those same policies that we are now trying to escape from. Their lies and deceptions know no bounds. This terrible unemployment rate and economy is all the fault of Barack Obama. Just ask them. If they had won the last election, we would have it made...

I frequent my local daily rag's comment board and it's plain scary to read the comments regarding President Obama's presidency.

Yes, there are the occasional (actually frequent) "social muslim dictator" and "birther" comments ... that is to be expected here in Arizona; but what gives me pause are the number of "He raised my taxes", "He's killing the economy", "He's planning a government take-over of {fill in the blank}" comments.

But when pressed, the posters have nothing to back it up ... They don't even try to quote rush or hannity anymore ... they just state it as fact.
