Iran says to be in contact with Syrian rebels

Iran has established contact with the Syrian rebels, the parliament speaker’s advisor on international issues, Hossein Sheikholeslam said, Mehr reported.

UN-Arab League envoy Kofi Annan arrived in Iran yesterday to hold talks on the Syrian issue with Iranian leaders.

One of Kofi Annan’s proposals for solving Syria crisis is a six-point peace plan, which means ‘stopping all forms of armed violence by all parties of the conflict under UN supervision, starting with withdrawal of Syrian troops from the country’s major cities’.

The document also suggests ‘ensuring the delivery of humanitarian aid to areas affected by armed conflict and the release of illegally detained persons’.
