According to your values, do people have the right to defend themselves from police violence?

This poll is about your opinion, as opposed to US/state law.

"Right" in this poll means "people should be allowed to." For example: people should have the right to vote = people should be allowed to vote.

"Defense" in this poll includes lethal force.

1. I wouldn't include "lethal force" unless the person's life was in imminent danger.

That goes both ways, though... for the cops as well as the people they're supposed to protect.

Who can know if your life is in imminent danger when a cop pulls you over or confronts you for jay walking.

9. No. If you're going to say that DWB is dangerous, even deadly, I agree.

That doesn't mean I think it's a good idea for someone black to pre-emptively shoot a cop.

4. Yes, but to do so is essentially opening yourself up to be shot and killed.

Juries almost always defer to the police, no matter how egregious the behavior.

6. Attacking police is extremely risky, that's why I don't mind bloc tactics.

Attacking a police officer will get you shot and killed at minimum, at maximum it'll get you and your friends shot and killed. So that's why when bloc tactics are employed, attacking property, which the police are more prone to protect, then that serves as a distraction, so innocents can escape.

7. 'Police violence' is a very vague term with different meanings to different people.

Hence...passed.

If a person is literally doing nothing wrong and a policeman starts violence? Absolutely they do! If a person attacks an officer and then gets a violent response? Nope. In the event of 'somewhere inbetween', I'd err on the side of caution because he's likely three times my size and I won't survive it.

Survival comes first. Every time. Always.
