Report: Koch Group Cuts Over $1 Million In Michigan Senate Race Spending
A Koch brothers-linked group that had booked over a million dollars worth of advertising this week has suddenly canceled those ads, according to a new Politico report.
The group, Freedom Partners, had previously booked $1.1 million worth of airtime in Michigan. About $800,000 of that $1.1 million was for the expensive Detroit media market.
The cancellation is notable given the recent struggles of Michigan Republican candidate for U.S. Senate in Michigan Terri Lynn Land (pictured). A recent Rasmussen Reports poll gave Rep. Gary Peters, the Democratic nominee in the race, a 6 percentage point lead over Land. The TPM Polltracker average gives Peters a 1.8 point lead over Land but that's a shift from earlier in the race when polling showed Land leading Peters.
The Democratic outside group Senate Majority PAC has also been attacking Land, painting her as a puppet for deep-pocketed conservative entities, including the Koch brothers.
