Netanyahu to US: Don't "ever second guess me again"

EVER.....
He scolded Pres. Obama like a parent to a kid.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Following the quick collapse of the cease-fire in Gaza, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told the White House not to force a truce with Palestinian militants on Israel.

Sources familiar with conversations between Netanyahu and senior U.S. officials, including Secretary of State John Kerry, say the Israeli leader advised the Obama administration "not to ever second guess me again" on the matter. The officials also said Netanyahu said he should be "trusted" on the issue and about the unwillingness of Hamas to enter into and follow through on cease-fire talks.

The Obama administration on Friday condemned "outrageous" violations of an internationally brokered Gaza cease-fire by Palestinian militants and called the apparent abduction of an Israeli soldier a "barbaric" action.

Arrogance needs to know no bounds.

At this moment in the United States, there is a completely disproportionate Israeli/Jewish influence of the media, and of financial and political control. Most older Americans grew up under the sway of the movie "Exodus." Has there every been a movie that has similar funding and distribution regarding the situation of the Palestinians? I don't think so. With AIPAC control rampant among congressional officials, our Congress, not just Palestine, has been occupied by Israel.

America has been bankrupted by: 1. Our Mideast wars instigated by Israel. (Witness how the clean water from Iraq was soon diverted to Israel, within weeks of the Shock and Awe campaign. (Eventually the depleted uranium made that water undesirable, but still.) Don't forget the very first oil pipeline out of Iraq after Shock and Awe went to Israel. 2. Then there is so much American support for the Jewish state's Mideast conquests.

where purchasing a politician's vote negates the vote of each and every voter. I do think the history of the Jewish people, especially the horrors of the Holocaust, has been, in large part, why support for Israel has been so strong among everyday people. That support is waning now because Israel has become the aggressor/oppressor of the Palestinians, something I think those who did grow up having read/watched Exodus and whose family members served in WWII naively believed the State of Israel would ever become because of that history.

The current actions of Netanyahu in the name of Israel has removed the belief, I think, that Israel is still a victim any more.

My reaction, if in charge of policy, would be to inform him the United States would begin to abstain on resolutions involving Israel in the Security Council, and would continue to do so until he began to conform to U.S. direction, rather than demanding we follow his lead like he were a toddler walking a St. Bernard.

...but sadly, there's fat chance our government will do that.

Too bad. Bullies only understand strength. They despise weakness or perceived weakness. If we do not respond to this outrageous remark by Netanyahu, then he will be further emboldened to go ahead with whatever radical actions he has in mind next.

I applaud your suggestion, though. It's the first one I've seen that would give an unequivocal message, in a form that Israel's government could not ignore.

How Israel explains the bloodshed

A quick guide to Israel PR methods:

1. We haven’t heard reports of deaths, will check into it

2. The people were killed, but by a faulty Palestinian rocket/bomb

3. OK we killed them, but they were terrorists

4. OK they were civilians, but they were being used as human shields

5. OK there were no fighters in the area, so it was our mistake. But we kill civilians by accident, they do it on purpose

6. OK we kill far more civilians than they do, but look at how terrible other countries are.

7. Why are you still talking about Israel ? Are you some kind of anti-Semite?

Repeat from step 1. Test this against the next interview you hear or watch.

But then I think of the civilians who deserve to have talks -- however fruitless -- continue.

Obviously, we cannot broker any kind of cease-fire, compromise, or peace if terms are basically dictated by one side, which is what Netanyahu wants.

that this is it. You get serious and get to the table, put your fucking heads together and come up with a reasonable solution or sort it out among yourselves; your rules, we'll keep our weapons and our money out of it. The latter doesn't work for Hamas, because it gives Israel the ability to steamroll Palestine completely, and it doesn't work for Israel because they leave themselves open to anything their rivals in the middle east bring.

A short, sharp shock might be the only way to begin to deal with the perpetual massacre.

It's called international law, and it mandates that territory cannot be gained through war. This is something that Israel has been in violation of for a very long time, and has only been exacerbating. However, as Israel's desires absolutely dominate the discourse on the topic, we're at this weird point where actually adhering to the law is seen as the "unreasonable" course, while violating it flagrantly is seen as "the only way forward".

And even with that warped baseline, there's a reasonable solution, that proffered by the Arab League and supported by Palestine, to just make the Armistice line the border, call it a peace treaty, and then negotiate land swaps as two sovereign states. In exchange, Israel gets totally normalized relations with the states of the Arab league. Bam, the territory issue is settled, the Arabs vs. Israel struggle is over, save for whatever "independent" jackasses on either side decide it's not, and there it is.

Israel has rejected this plan, saying that "there need to be negotiations." Of course, negotiations could simply be this:
"hey, do you accept this idea?"
"Yeah."
"Good, let's go get margaritas"
And of course the problem that it's really hard to imagine that a dominator can really "negotiate" with a subjugated people.

Bottom line is, it's not"both sides" being unreasonable here. It's Israel and its desire to annex as much of Palestine as it can that is the core of unreasonableness. THAT is the great barrier to a resolution here, and it always has been. Their latest demand was annexation of the entire Jordan valley, and in exchange Israel would "consider" lifting the occupation in 40 years.

You understand that AIPAC is dead, toast, finished if the US government walks back support in response to something like this from Bibi...all their shit will not overcome public opinion. We didn't break the "special relationship", Netanyahu did.

Nobody is going to actually defend Bibi scolding or threatening a sitting US President, not even the most pro-Israel conservative. Personally if he wants to act this way, I think perhaps we should suspend all aid until he grovels. Perhaps it'll do some good and break the current Knesset coalition. I can't help but think perhaps a Labor dominated coalition could do more good anyways.

You will receive no more aid from the United States. Not one cent. You will receive no military supplies, not one bullet. If you or ANY Israeli PM attempts to interfere in our internal affairs, it will be considered an act of aggression, to be punished by sanctions, suspension of relations and any other action we think appropriate.

But that will NEVER happen. Due to the way our campaigns are financed, and the Israel lobby's strength and muscle, our leaders are more loyal to Israel than they are to their own country, and we are Israel's docile colony.

Item: Israel can have health care as a fundamental right. We can't, we can't afford it.

Item: Israel can have a sound infrastructure and proper spending on it. We can't, we can't afford it.

Why? We are too busy being the world's cop and Santa Claus, Including being Israel's Santa Claus.

Time to stop that and spend that money on Americans in America.

We should have cut Israel off a long time ago. Now, for many reasons, I think it's too late. Once again political self-interest trumps national interest. Big surprise, that.

I think now there should be a "neutral" third party involved here (I put it in quotes because I'm not sure one exists when it comes to this fight) instead of the U.S. trying to bring these nations to the table. We have just too damned many conflicts of interest; at the top of the list is the continual dance to whatever tune Netanyahu is playing at the moment.

Bibi has been waiting for this for a long, long time. I hope the fruits of it all will be worth it for him. It won't be for the rest of us, that much is for sure.
