President Obama on Torture: "...Hopefully We Don't Do It Again In The Future."

In case anyone would like to see President Obama's recent remarks (August 1, 2014) on torture, here is the segment (about 4 minutes) of the White House video that deals with it:

This excerpt is from the longer video (about 48 minutes) of the press conference that is located here:

"...Hopefully we don't do it again in the future..." is apparently all there is to say.

IMO, not a very strong statement. Then again he has the CIA to deal with.

I heard most of his press conference today and I didn't think anything of this statement. There were a few things that outraged me today such as the end of the ceasefire Gaza and the Senate voting to give Israel $225 million while millions of Americans are still unemployed.

But if Obama's statement is something I should be outraged about, well then I'll go get my pitchfork!

Obama hasn't done anything even close to the BFEE years to push my rage-o-meter in the red zone. I was not a happy camper with him after the BP oil spill. That is about it.

He could be a lot harder on the Rwing...that would please I bet millions of us to no end.

Years ago, when the President made the statement that he wanted to "look forward, not backward," I made the statement that a nation that refuses to deal with its past is destined to remain mired in it.

He can pass a law or issue a directive, but cannot control what a future hypothetical president may do.

One might also say about any bad policy we have had in the past: "hopefully we don't do it again the future".
