Idaho casino dumps Ted Nugent

Good riddance to the draft dodger, pedophile, poacher.

Less than seven hours after being asked about the racist legacy of rock entertainer Ted Nugent, the Coeur d’Alene Tribe of American Indians this evening cancelled a scheduled performance next month by the controversial performer.
Marketing and public relations staffers seemed unaware of his racist past, but made a quick decision once they were contacted about the appearance:

“Nugent’s history of racist and hate-filled remarks was brought to Tribal Council’s attention earlier today” by the Southern Poverty Law Center, Keen said in a statement e-mailed to media outlets.
“The Coeur d’Alene Tribe has always been about human rights – for decades, we have worked individually and as a Tribe to make sure that each and every person is treated equally and with respect and dignity,” the statement said.

And he must be an "angel?"

Idaho American Indian Tribe That Cancelled Nugent Concert Will Miss Out On His Vile Commentary

NRA's Nugent Recently Used Anti-Gay Slur To Describe Obama At Concert

After an American Indian tribe canceled a Ted Nugent concert because of his history of using racist language, recently posted footage of Nugent shows what else they're missing out on: the use of anti-gay slurs to attack President Obama.

The Coeur d'Alene Tribe had initially hired Nugent, a National Rifle Association board member and spokesman for the Outdoor Channel, to perform on August 4 at its Idaho casino. The tribe had been unaware of Nugent's background of racially inflammatory commentary until being contacted by the Southern Poverty Law Center's Hatewatch project, and it canceled the concert hours later.

In video posted online, Nugent is seen during his July 6 concert at River Road Ice House in New Braunfels, Texas, calling Obama a "piece of shit," a "cocksucker," and a "motherfucker." (Nugent had previously promised to stop name-calling following controversy over his characterization of Obama as a "subhuman mongrel.&quot

During an onstage rant, Nugent claimed he is "the number one man that the president hates more than anybody in the whole world" and added, "I must be a fucking angel, because the devil don't like my ass."

The Coeur d Alenes have been tremendous source for good in North Idaho. They have not only reconnected of their tribal members to their rich cultural history and created a progressive future - they have also given millions to support education in the surrounding communities.

Well Done Indeed!

The tribe asserted that they were unaware of Nugent's penchant for controversial rhetoric until they got a call from Bill Morlin, who you should remember from his excellent work over the years for the Spokesman Review, who now writes for the Southern Poverty Law Center's Hatewatch blog. Click here for Morlin's account of what transpired when he asked the casino if it saw anything controversial in booking Nugent.

Hours later after Morlin raised the question, the casino had canceled the show.

He got $16 grand out of a event he was supposed to do in Texas. Maybe he's figured out that all he has to do is book a gig, let his past catch up with him, and offer a fifty per cent discount on his not showing up!

The local organization Una Voz Unida started a petition calling for the cancellation of an upcoming concert by rock and roller and political activist Ted Nugent slated for Aug. 17 at the Wagner Noël Performing Arts Center. The performance is scheduled to raise money for the Show of Support Memorial at Heroes Plaza in Midland.
The petition reads as follows:
“Please cancel Nugent’s performance. Nobody is precluding Ted Nugent from speaking. It is a question as to whether or not the Wagner Noël, in a community such as Odessa and Midland should accept a notorious bigot in the name of supporting veterans. Wagner Noël is better than this.”
Tickets are $47 to $101 and are still available at the Wagner Noël box office.

Hey, help us out and sign the petition, would ya?

What a dishonor for the veteran whom served and died for this great nation, to have the republican party promote this racist, bigot for a fund raiser. Maybe they can drag up Hitler next for a fund raiser.

Right now these oil and natural gas cities are doing the best economically in the United States and they are looking for the entertainment of stomping working, liberal, progressive people. Working class, progressive people are not welcome at the Arts center.

And the wealthy could not give a rat's ass about veterans. That is my opinion.

included a list of concerts that he was to present, and one was to be in Jim Thorpe, PA.

What a shame - the great American Jim Thorpe was a Native American and at one time was voted the "Greatest Athlete of the 20th Century" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jim_Thorpe).

Ironically, the town of Jim Thorpe has been/is involved in serious controversy regarding their "memorial" - including the remains - and the wishes of people from Oklahoma (including his own descendants) who want those remains returned to his "native land."

It's a complex story but it hurts to see that this a$$hat Nugent is even putting his foot in this town - considering his own "respect" for "native culture."
