Dick Cheney has never served in the military. He got four military deferrals. He is a chickenshit who has not problem sending young men to their deaths although when his number came up he ran the other way.

The intent of my first response was to remind us that Cheney has no clue how to handle a rifle and people around him are not safe if he has a rifle. In a way, it built on the idea of your original post. He is not a warrior and has no knowledge of how to be a warrior. Hell, he can't even hunt without shooting someone in the face unintentionally.

By every conservative standard of "gummint byooooreaucrat" the Pentagon is a worst-case scenario: opaque, insulated, unaccountable. Plus, it has legitimate "secret budget" needs that can be stretched to hide many sins, and any time anyone wants to force any substantial efficiency there are people and Dick Cheney who will squeal like stuck pigs about how it "devastates" our defense.


Although those people and Dick Cheney will never point to their taking our military out on their half-assed neoconservative joyrides in the Middle East as a cause of "devastating the United States military". It's not as if he ever have a rats ass about how many tours of duty people have to go out on. After all, the important number was his own, and that total was zero. "Other priorities."
