86. It is now

but when I was growing up I didn't know what poutine was ...and I had been to Quebec (Montreal AND Quebec City!) when I was 11. It's only in the last 10-15 years it's spread across the country. Of course, I am in the West so we are slower to know what the East is up to Plus when I was in Quebec, my aunt was anxious to show us the BEST restaurants, so I doubt poutine was on the menu of any of the restaurants we dined at, LOL.

89. I'd have to ask my past-wife when she started seeing it.

I think her family moved to Ontario around 1970, from Newfoundland. Her father may have been exposed to it earlier, being a merchant marine.

You know, considering what the "best" restaurant serve anymore, you might just find a high-dollar version of poutine at such restaurants today

95. In the same way BBQ is Universal in the US

Theres Poutine everywhere in Canada. Will be here in the states soon enough as well. I can get BBQ in any major city in the US. But theres a big difference between BBQ in North Carolina vs BBQ in Seattle.

I defy you to find a good Poutine in BC. Most places in Canada seem to offer Poutine as a cover for the fact they cant seem to make a decent french fry.

You have to be carrying a potential weapon and some kind of book to qualify, and maple syrup is not a book...

26. Ahhh... I can see it now.

I see me standing in front of an American flag, with a copy of "Shelley Berman's Cleans and Dirties" and in my weapon hand, a cream pie.

Or there's always the sexy version - the book, I suppose, would be "50 Shades of Gray" (I never read it, though) and in the weapon hand, how 'bout one of those wand vibrators (or a nice long rubber dildo?)!

79. I'm still thinking... the weapon is a giant cannoli. The book is "The Godfather" (Part One).

Standing in front of a flag with the sketch of the hand holding the marionette control cross-bar on it, or the flag of Sicily.

A giant salami in the weapon hand and a Jerry's Famous Deli menu in the book hand. The flag? Maybe a Kosher banner?

A Klingon batliff in the weapon hand, "The Book of Kahless" in the book hand, and the flag is the Klingon Empire banner?

OR...

The flag is Starfleet Command's, the weapon is the phaser, and the book is "The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes" or Picard's "Globe Illustrated Shakespeare"?

The flag is Gryffindor's. The weapon is the wand. The book is "The Monster Book of Monsters."

And onward...

And if you use any of Julia Child's books, you could add the French flag, too

Also, cartoon American flag, Sylvester holding a cast-iron frying with a face-imprint and a copy of "Chuck Amuck" by Chuck Jones.

Steed from "The Avengers" would be a good substitute for Holmes, as he also uses a cane as a weapon.

Although, technically, the item that's not a book has to be a weapon, or used as one somehow. When I saw the Canadian one above, I wondered if the hammer was what the Canadian's wand would look like

It's got notches in it so it may be for applying the spackle-stuff that you spread on a wall and make ridges in - so you can lay tiles.

47. Really? The "curry shop at the end of the road" is a literary cliche in England long since.

Apparently London has curry shops the way New York has Chinese take-out.

71. Ideas for Scotland?

Guy in a kilt, with bagpipes as the weapon, or maybe haggis, and, hmm, what book? Trainspotting, some sort of guide to single malt? (Don't pounce, I love bagpipes!)

The Netherlands: bicycle lock as the weapon, or maybe a colorful clog. Not sure what book.

Oh, I would love to see this go global.

She's really going strong. Even calls WV Democratic Women a hate group. So persecuted.

74. The second picture, along with Holly Fisher's, has been floating around the internet for days

and was not intended to amuse as much as it was meant to point out the similarity between a member of the American Christian Taliban and her counterpart in the Islamic Taliban.

lunatic with a weapon and sacred book, wrapped in a flag. Guess that could be up to three weapons, depending on one's perspective.

77. Hilarious!

It is just a shame that the right wing of this country's citizens is always embarrassing us. I would sometimes like to point out that we are not all that stupid, but there doesn't seem to be much evidence to support that claim.

102. Don't you cringe when you see that stuff?

I like to watch Danish TV dramas. They are fabulous, and eventually they all seem to get Americanized and the American versions never hold a candle to the originals (i.e, The Killing, The Bridge)

But anyway, to see what other countries think about us is very eye opening. And saddening, especially when you have to agree with what they are saying.

By the way, WELCOME! Nice to see you here.
