Hobby Lobby still covers vasectomies, Viagra, condoms, and heavily invests in Plan B manufacturer

http://www.forbes.com/sites/nicoleleinbachreyhle/2014/07/02/the-hobby-lobby-mess-3-quick-facts-you-need-to-know-about/

The article covers three interesting facts about Hobby Lobby and their REAL feelings about birth control. They have invested $73 million in the company that makes Plan B, so they have a financial stake in making other forms of birth control harder to access.

1. Hobby Lobby still provides benefits to employees who need erectile dysfunction treatments, Viagra and vasectomies. The male condom is also covered in their plan, along with select other birth control options.

2. Hobby Lobby had five male justices from the Supreme Court – note, zero women – make the decision that Hobby Lobby would “win” their case. While this was out of Hobby Lobby’s actual control, it does seem rather coincidental, doesn’t it?

3. Hobby Lobby – as reported by various media outlets that include Mother Jones – has about $73 million invested in the company that makes the Plan B morning-after pill… aka, a pill often recognized as a type of abortion or prevention of pregnancy and hence, something that could have been prevented with appropriate birth control.

I would bet, too, that if Viagra or vasectomies WERE included in the lawsuit, this would have been a 9-0 against Hobby Lobby.

They lack the balls to stand up and tell truth to power. We all too often are afraid to take action for fear that we will lose. I would love to see a big deal done on Hobby Lobby to call them out over their perjury and let every other corporation be on notice not to to fuck around with Bull Shit claims.

AG Holder needs to grow a pair and take action.

to any birth control that prevented implantation.

Sorry, editing this because I made an error: Plan B does its work "the morning after," therefore long after the Pill would do its work. Yet they are repulsed by the pill and invest in Plan B.

RU-485 does cause an abortion up to 7 weeks after ferilization. Plan B will do nothing after implantation. It works exactly the same as those other contraceptive pills HL approved. Just a higher dosage.

about Plan B and RU-486. Fundies like to call Plan B (and sometimes even ordinary birth control pills) "abortion pills". A lot of people have heard that lie and believe those two drugs work the same way.

Does Plan B even prevent implantation? I know it's supposed to prevent ovulation long enough for any sperm cells that are present to die. I don't know if there's any evidence that it stops an already fertilized egg from implanting.

Plan B does nothing after implantation, (I did misspeak up thread, and have corrected it) but neither does the pill, which they are so horrified by.

None of this makes sense.

If they are morally repulsed by the pill, why are they fine with this product to the tune of $73 million in investment?

Nursing a newborn on demand around the clock stops ovulation. Do these nursing new mothers get periods? Nope. However, if baby doesn't nurse as much a usual for a while, ovulation might occur. However, if she hasn't been getting her periods, or just slight staining, it is possible that the uterine lining would not build up enough for implantation. I believe they call this Short Luteal Phase. This happened to me when my two month old (totally breastfed) got a cold and had difficulty nursing. I had a slight staining that month. Just by coincidence I had a scheduled GYN exam just days after. My doctor said from my internal exam that he thought I might have conceived, but the breastfeeding would have been still enough to prevent implantation. Absolutely stunned me. BTW, my husband got his vasectomy soon after this.

Does HL, etc., object to this based on the POSSIBILITY that nursing a baby might kill it's sibling? Oh, wait. That is GOD'S choice? Well, I don't know many women who would want another baby 9 or 10 months after already giving birth.

These people are totally stupid and blinded by religion's pseudo science.

they just did not want to chip in their two cents worth to cover women's issues, women's bodies. I would guess that their work force is mostly women so they will save a nice chunk of change on this deal.

I also don't think it was primarily about women, though it certainly was misogynistic.

I think the primary reason for this was to try and chip away at Obamacare, and they were perfectly fine with stripping away the rights of their female employees to achieve it.

After all, if sex is sin, then ED just helps keep one from sinning, right? How can that not be a gift from God?
