I'm a man, and I like to have sex.

And that's why I got a vasectomy.
The burden of birth control does not and should not have to be on the woman.
Vasectomy is, by far, the surest form of birth control.

And then there are no boner-killing condoms to possibly break or slip off.
No expensive IUDs or pills for her to buy, no muss, no fuss, no worry.

So come on, fellow fellas!
Check in here if you've had a vasectomy!
If you are not planning on having any (more?) children, please consider having this done. Let's not make the women do all the work.

Besides, most health insurance plans cover vasectomies. Mine did. It took about 20 minutes, and I held the instruments for the doctor who did it. He explained what was happening every step of the way, and I got to lay around in bed for a few days, while my lady brought me ice packs and ice cream.

Besides, and this is really important... It improves your sex life INCREDIBLY!!!
Both for you and for her. Both of you knowing that nothing can go wrong because there are no little fellas trying to impregnate her, means you can be TOTALLY UNINHIBITED!!! And there's nothing wrong with that.

Trust me on this...

And yes, my insurance did pay for it.
I suppose there was a deductible, but I really don't remember.
It was 1989.

the point was that Hobby Lobotomy apparently has no problem paying for men's vasectomies, just women's birth control.

because I felt the same way. My wife at the time had already birthed two babies, so I thought she had been through enough and I could share in some of the pain so she wouldn't have to.

It's really not a big deal. Local anesthetic, about 15 minutes and then you are on your way home.

As he was prepping me for the procedure with a local anesthetic

Doctor: OK. Now you're about to feel just a little prick.
Me: As will you.

The Doc had to wait a minute to fully regain his composure. Which was good, because I don't want a guy swinging a scalpel that close to my junk when he's shaking with laughter.

"You may feel a little prick."

Me: "Oh well; it wouldn't be the first time."

That's been over 25 years ago, and he still remembers it.

After 3 kids my wife and I discussed her continued use of various forms of birth control and we both agreed that a vasectomy was the way to go. Minimal pain and swelling. Insurance covered the whole thing. I don't even think about getting my wife pregnant when we have sex and she doesn't have to have the chemicals going through her body anymore. It was a win win situation.

held my ex' hand while he had his vasectomy. He wasn't an ex at that point, lol. Why? Because we already had 2 kids. I was tired of all of the other methods that created obstacles and some health issues for me. When a mutual friend pointed out that, if the marriage failed he might want more kids, I pointed out that there was nothing wrong with the kids he already had, and that they wouldn't stop needing him if he fucked his marriage up.

It was short, simple, and yes, our sex lives improved dramatically when it was over. Which led directly to him happily having sex with anything that would stand still long enough. Talk about no inhibitions, lol.

When he DID fuck the marriage up (it was predictable; hence the friends' comment to begin with,) I raised those kids by myself. And patted myself on the back for ensuring that there wouldn't be any more kids out there waiting around for his time and attention. He loved them. Hell, he loved me. He was just too dysfunctional to manage himself, let alone be responsible for others.

Then I took myself in for a tubal ligation, because I really meant it when I said 2 kids were plenty. It wasn't quick. It wasn't easy. The recovery was much longer. But I never regretted it. It gave me a bottom line when it came to relationships; any guy who thought he wanted a relationship knew up front that it wouldn't include bearing his children.

I'm considering it because I'm a single dude who loves women and loves sex and really don't want any accidental pregancies.

I knew a few other guys under 30 who had them at the time. Again, it was the late 80's, early 90's, and there was wave of it back then. Maybe you can start the next wave?

It's such a simple thing that could make such a huge difference, if it could become the norm.

Had to wait 3 days after the talk this may be permanent and sign paperwork I was told.
I have never regretted the decision and am happy I made it.
I like to say its like having a root canal but they are not working on your teeth!
Sex life has always been good and I could not tell the difference.
So I would recommend it to anyone who would not like to bring another child into the world.
Its major surgery for a woman so I think any caring man should volunteer.

Occasionally succeeding is reward enough.
That... and all those orgasms.

My father got a vasectomy after my mothers dr told him she couldn't go through another pregnancy. She would definately die.

My husband when I was pregnant with my youngest, volunteered to get one, so the burden wasn't on me.

It hasn't killed our sex life! It's been 7 years and we are very happy!!!
