Egypt's military regime claims it has created a miraculous device that can not only detect the presence of viruses like HIV and Hepatitis C without a blood sample but can also cure infected individuals, according to the Los Angeles Times. Resembling a kitchen hand mixer, the futuristic metal gadget was allegedly invented by Egyption Army General Ibrahim Abdulatty and, although both scientists and the general interntional community have ridiculed the miracle cure, Egyptian leaders still insisted on pushing the device, scheduling for nationwide adoption of the technique in the country's army hospitals next month.
Many have criticized the device as a propaganda campaign addressing the Egyptian leadership's ability to handle the Hepatitis C epidemic in the nation, which has one of the most severe infection rates in the world, according to London's The Guardian. Sadly, despite the dubious nature of the treatment, over 70,000 people have already signed up to try the device.
During a press conference this past Saturday, a representative of the military postponed the rollout, claiming that the devices needed at least six more months of testing. "Scientific integrity mandates that I delay the start of the public release until the experimentation period is over, to allow for a follow up with patients already using it," said Major General Gamal el-Serafy, director of the Armed Forces Medical Department, according to Egypt's state news agency MENA.

In a military dictatorship, scientists can't stand up and say "this is all balls", or they'll get thrown in jail or killed. So the Egyptian military is showing its complete lack of morals by ripping off people and putting them at risk of death. I note the supposed inventor has changed from "Brigadier Ahmed Amien, an engineer and bomb detection expert" to "General Ibrahim Abdulatty". The senior general has muscled in to take the money, and make people even more afraid of speaking up.
