Any woman who has ever used contraception should not feel welcome in Hobby Lobby. They should boycott. Let womb-controlling men buy the shit

(37,457 posts)The models all point to it going north away from me. If it was a hurricane headed due west, you're damn right I'd be preparing. Usually hurricanes miss my neck of the woods, we only get heavy rain and wind.

(83,637 posts)If you think that this decision about women is bad...and it is the worst. Just wait for the trickle down. They just left the doors wide open for corporations to discriminate at will. It's all about them and screw the rest of us.
If you sit out the vote because you think this is not about you...then you are a fool.
Thank you for your OP Cha. We do need to vote because it is about all of us.

(83,637 posts)This ruling kinda knocked the wind out of me. I am usually more positive.
Will it bring more women out to vote? Without a doubt. I hope we can flip Congress and I do believe we will keep the Senate, I would love us to add to our ranks there.
However none of that can change the "SCROTUS" five. We are stuck with those neanderthals that are truly bought and paid for. Oh, there will be blow back yet they hold their position for life.
Cha
(296,780 posts)but, I just think that it's going to have the Law Of Unintended Consequences that the Smug 5 couldn't begin to imagine.
Yeah, they'll sit up there all pompous and shit.. but.. it isn't forever.

(81,090 posts)I hope it motivates LOTS of women. THAT'S how we can win this and overrule this. WOMEN, GET UP OFF YOUR ASSES AND VOTE!!!!!! Do NOT let ANY opportunity to vote pass you by! There is NOTHING more important in your day, on Election Day, than this! NOTHING. That is - assuming other things in your life are important to you, too - like YOUR right to rule YOUR OWN health care, not some boss's right, some American ayatollah's right, not some politician's (usually male) right, or ANYBODY else's right other than yours. If women don't rise up and assert OUR rights at the ballot box on this issue, there may well come a day when we women aren't allowed near a voting booth, PERIOD. Think I'm exaggerating? There are activists and bagger-types at this very moment who think the biggest downturn in American history came when women won the right to vote, and would LOVE to do something about that.
Don't EVER take your rights for granted! They're hard-won. People marched, struggled, fought (sometimes physically), did without, petitioned, protested, scarificed, were jailed, were muzzled, shed blood, put at risk - or outright lost - everything, some even died - for these rights. Don't demean that sacrifice, or ignore it, or make light of it or shrug it off as no big deal. OR dishonor it. You do so at your own peril, and OURS, too. Remember Joni Mitchell's lyrics in "Big Yellow Taxi" - "don't it always seem to go that you don't know what you've got til it's GONE."
sheshe2
(83,637 posts)I have no intention to sit back and relax. We've come to far for that.
Thanks calimary for that pep talk.

(67,084 posts)like this set up the framework for discrimination and persecution, then, anything can be instituted by this methodology. Countries have fallen, extermination of races has been implemented, the list goes on and on. In short, the ruling by SCOTUS has instituted the guidelines and framework for considerable discrimination. In fact, their ruling sounds like a grade school thesis in which the presenter would have received an F for failure to be cognizant of consequences.

(35 posts)We are going to need a LOT more fish to go against the fascists Koch brothers.
But if there is one thing the teabagterrorist have show us... sometimes you DON'T need a boat load of money to win.
Cantor LOST his seat... he spent $5million dollars, while the teabagger spent about $100,000.
How? Boots on the ground. Local people.
In every local district, someone must be willing to RUN for office that is NOT a republican.
It has a 2 prong effect (it will require work).
1 - People who are DEMS in R-districts don't bother to vote because there is NOBODY to vote for... I do my best in Texas.
2 - It'll force Koch and their terrorist friends to spend more money. (over taxes? they'll spend less if they paid them and shut up).
Cha
(296,780 posts)Yeah... I agree and understand... but we need more still.
The Teabaggers are fully armed to vote, no matter how small. Since 2008, I have voted in every off / mid-term elections... thanks to MSNBC. Which I never KNEW existed until Keith Olbermann was on Letterman. And we thought "This guy is smart and funny, what channel is he on?"
I still miss him.
My then-girl friend never bothered to vote because she didn't know that it counts. Now she votes... and she is spreading the word.
Every person we educate has the ability to educate others.
BUT, they need to be able to see the proper information. When such a person is already a neo-con or teabagger and they actually bother to try and fact-check, Google's search engine "knows" that he is a conservative and the results will be right-wing based... ver. what is true (not left or right). So I try to use actual video or or their actions or published statements.... not just someone else's opinion.
The teabaggers/Koch knows we are gearing up for a fight and their forces are still far far stronger, even for so little people.
Look at how the constant lies from FOX and blogs have convinced of the MIDDLE to think that Obama is a Muslim and that he is not doing anything for the country, while at the same time, he is DOING TOO MUCH!?! Obama could be better, he has messed up - but he is not bad.
Cha
(296,780 posts)after the election I cancelled my cable news and all forms of corporate "news". I have not looked back. Thinking I am so much more better off because of it.
Got my first computer in 2002 so I could get on DU.. whoa, what a ride!
Sorry... my bad, I wasn't clear. Then-GF/now wife.
I know I've converted at least 11 people directly. The teabaggers will not change, they WANT to live in their fantasy.
So the uninformed are the ones we need to get out in vote.
Cha
(296,780 posts)I was about to correct you... no biggy.
Sorry, I've been working on some projects... so much, I had to remove my self from current events.
