Boycott Hobby Lobby and put them out of business!

We have the power of the dollar. They started this, so let's end them.

They want to take basic rights away from women. Let's take their company away in return.

1. Surely not a single adult can shop there again, right?

If you know anybody who shops there, remind them how much they hate Women

2. I sent them an email back when the scotus accepted the case.

I told them I would never set foot into their store again beause of their refusal to let their employees make the decision on their own health care. They responded to me that they were only against "some forms of birth control". I responded that they were free to try to convince their employees to believe as they do, but there should never be a law to give the employer the authority to do that.

I have stuck with my decision. I shop at JoAnn, Michael's, and several online stores, but I will NEVER set foot into a HobbyLobby again.

10. They shouldn't even be free to try to convince employees.

That's too much power for an employer to have over an employee.

6. the company is "Hobby Lobby" not "Holly Hobby"

This is Holly Hobbie

This is about Holly Hobbie

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Holly_Hobbie

There is, as far as I know, no connection between Holly Hobbie and Hobby Lobby.

7. While I wouldn't shop there anyway

you aren't going to put them out of business. There are enough right wing loonies to keep them in business, just ask Chik-Fil-Et or whatever it's called...

Besides, the problem isn't really Hobby Lobby, they have the right to be fools, the problem is the Supreme Court, allowing them to force their foolishness on others.

18. Yeah well they are nuts, and I don't have to shop there

but the Supreme Court is forcing their employees to subscribe to a specific religion. And I do have to live here.

11. ...another option

If the employee is unhappy with the coverage provided by the employer, could they not drop the employer coverage and purchase from the exchange where all forms of birth control are covered?

I am not saying the ruling is correct by an means, but there are options for coverage.

32. No unfortunately

If your employer offers a plan then you are not eligible for the exchange.

hobby lobby asked the question and the court gave them permission.

15. The people who shop there now won't quit. This won't work.

It is the best place to go if you need Christian-themed trinkets to decorate your house with. I went in one of those places last year to kill time while waiting for some film to be developed at the drugstore across the street...rough estimate, 60 percent of their merchandise was Christian-themed, 25 percent was home decor stuff that wasn't religious in nature (lots of glass - kinda like an Import Market with no incense), 15 percent was actual hobby/craft stuff.

I glanced in a few people's carts. They ALL had Christian stuff in them.

17. You're right.

But what this ruling does is open the door for other companies to "assert their religious freedom."

Keep an eye out for those companies, and boycott them as soon as they become known.

33. Plenty of non-religious people shop there too

I suspect that a large portion of their customer base will stay with them, but if enough people boycott, I do think they will feel the pain.

34. The pain could backfire on us

If they claim the reduction in business is "persecution," it's very likely Christians who currently shop at other craft stores (like Michaels, A.C. Moore or Jo-Ann Fabrics) who are able to move their business to Hobby Lobby will do so.

20. I haven't set foot in there since this whole fiasco

began, and I never will again. I bought a few art supplies from them years ago, as well as a shoji screen and wicker baker's rack (on sale) for my office. I feel like burning that shit now, and I'm ashamed I ever gave them a nickel's worth of business. Early in the coverage of this, I learned about their financial support of Liberty U. and other rotten causes. I am going to send them an e-mail to let them know how much I despise them and their "closely held family business." This gives new meaning to the phrase "caveat emptor."

there are 3 new stores "opening soon" in the los angeles area. they appear to be expanding.

Though that would take away the time and energy from the campaign which we need every hour and every minute of every day along with every dollar we can raise to try to take back the House and keep the Senate.

29. We need to work on other shoppers

so they will understand all of the nuances of this ruling.

For one, they have taken it on themselves to decide which of our religious beliefs are sincere beliefs. For any person with religious convictions, this is quite concerning. It's an offense against anyone's religious beliefs.
