Pretty sure a conference can call 'qualified' speakers. Of course they'd call someone who says

creep along as it possibly morphs into something far larger. I hope not, but it's just my gut feeling. I was surprised too when several days ago I heard Petraeus's name being prevalent again.

Unless GOP-ers steal money. their reputations & standing in the party are in no danger..
