(30,947 posts)Shoot them with a camera instead of a gun or bow and arrow. I worked as a copy editor for a hunting and fishing publication. And many of the articles would include photos of the smiling hunters with their kill. I always wished I could wipe that smile off their faces

Yeah, I've done this. It's amazing, but I've shot hundreds of animals, insects, and birds. One hundred percent of the critters I shot went on with their lives, most of them none the wiser that they had been immortalized.

This reminds of the "Only Real Men Love Jesus" bumper stickers that were on every other car in the south a few years ago. That shit drove me crazy.
I like Ricky Gervais, and agree with him on almost everything I've read or heard from him that is political, but this is not accurate.

(36,827 posts)Wildlife management relies on hunters, either natural or human, for success. While it's true that some hunting serves no useful purpose, much of it does. There are consequences for allowing certain animal populations to run amok.

(36,827 posts)If there's a need to cull animals for wildlife management, what the hunter does with them after they are culled isn't relevant for that goal. The end result is the same.

(5,957 posts)When I fish, I release what I'm not going to eat. I don't hunt much, but when I do, I only shoot what I plan to eat.
I do love shooting wildlife pictures, especially birds.
