Ted Nugent Calls For Punishing The Poor, Claims They Make Poor Decisions To End Up In Poverty
December 20, 2011
By Stephen D. Foster Jr.
Ted Nugent is part of the cockroach crowd of conservatives. You know, those heartless morons who are obsessed with punishing people for something that isnt their fault? Yeah, those conservatives. The extreme right wing, dumber than dirt rednecks who think they know everything and want to kill everyone. Thats Ted Nugent alright. Well, Ted Nugent wrote (Nugent knows how to write?) a column for the Washington Times. And in that column, Nugent called for punishing the poor and blamed them for being poor. He also called for killing social safety net programs such as unemployment benefits and Social Security.
Nugent, who frequently appeared on Glenn Becks television program on Fox News, wrote in the December 16th column that being poor is a choice and that children of single parents are more likely to commit crimes and have pre-marital sex.
Being poor is largely a choice, a daily, if not hourly, decision. If you decide to drop out of school, fail to learn a skill, have no work ethic or get divorced, a life of poverty is often the consequence. The children of parents who choose a life of poverty quite often pay a horrible price, and so does all of America. Here is part of the column via the Washington Times:
- Poverty rates among college graduates, those who learn a trade or skill and parents who stay married are much lower than the rates among those who choose opposite paths. As author William J. Bennett pointed out a number of years ago in his book The Index of Leading Cultural Indicators, children of single parents are much more likely to be involved in crime and premarital sex, to drop out of school and to get involved with drugs. Ugly and uncomfortable as that may be, its the truth.

(26,955 posts)As the Rutland Herald reported, Here's what Nugent said he would have done if he went to Vietnam:
"... if I would have gone over there, I'd have been killed, or I'd have killed, or I'd kill all the hippies in the foxholes ... I would have killed everybody," he told the Detroit Free Press in an interview published July 15, 1990."
The Herald also noted that Nugent's efforts to avoid the draft make President Bush look like a war hero.
(Nugent claims) that 30 days before his Draft Board Physical, he stopped all forms of personal hygiene. The last 10 days he ingested nothing but junk food and Pepsi, and a week before his physical, he stopped using the bathroom altogether, virtually living inside his pants caked with excrement and urine. That spectacle won Nugent a deferment.

(35,568 posts)As Viet Nam Disabled Infantry Vet,and a draftee,Ted Nugent and most of the Republicans are all spineles cowards, and draft dodging Deferement Recepients like 5 deferment D Cheney.
They are now the first ones to call for war, since they wont have to risk their own life, and they are happy sending off other people to die, while they stay safely behind, showing their patriotism by waving their flags and talking tough, while annointing themself as the 'REAL AMERICANS"

(5,299 posts)...be a thankless job, with most street-level, local musicians barely scraping by.
That said, Ted Nugent hasn't done anything even partially listenable since "Journey to the Center of the Mind," when he was still in the Amboy Dukes.
Everything he's done since then is pure shit: boring, stupid, mindless, poorly written/performed, and overproduced (although, no level of production can help).
But, believe me, as an indie music (sometimes) writer, performer, and engineer/producer, I know what kind of a job playing music is, and it ain't easy.

(10,610 posts)this line of reasoning actually resonates with some people.
Yes, lots of poor people have made bad choices. I'll bet the "Nuge" has made a bunch of bad choices too, and, but for the grace of God, he'd be in the gutter himself.
A society worth having takes care of its own.
