First of all, I'm not convinced this poor woman really has much "choice" as to how many kids she's gonna pump out. I'd venture a guess that their religion pretty much leaves that decision (actually, all decisions) up to the man.

But more importantly, if she doesn't want anybody to criticize Billy Bob's decision for her to be a baby factory, they shouldn't be on the Today show babbling to the world about it.

I believe she claimed she was on birth control at the time (which I find surprising) and blamed it on that. Since then she's fully on the "God's Will" bandwagon.

Going to a fertility doctor seems to go against that though. My feeling is she probably need counseling more than 19 kids, and her husband is just an asshole. Whatever.

That "go forth and multiply in mass quantities" meme has outlived its usefulness but the religious hacks still sell it like it's a pickup line... because maybe that's the only way they will get sex.

A woman exercising her right to choose in a manner someone else doesn't agree with!!! I better body-shame her and ridicule those awful rednecks!!!

I've seen the show and read about them a bit. Seems they have a nice, caring, and productive family. Why someone strokes out over it is beyond me. They have 5X the kids my partner and I would ever be comfortable raising, but that's between them. I couldn't possibly care less how few or how many kids a family chooses to have. I'm funny like that.

Movement want to deny MY right to choose. So who is doing more damage? Them with their 20 kids or me with none? She HAS the freedom to have 20 kids, but wants to deny others the choice not to have kids. I don't feel the least bit bad criticizing her planet-destroying irresponsibility.

The Duggars and their kids killed the earth.

You know what the best way to argue against a person who opposes your right to choose is? I couldn't say for sure, but it's probably not criticizing their choices about reproduction in return. Once that is done, it becomes apparent that you yourself weren't really all that pro choice to begin with. You either fully support a person's right to choose, or you don't. Well, you can I suppose, but then you become hypocrite who lacks any credibility.

I've heard this same tired argument before. Last time it was from the mouth of my right-wing uncle, advocating for birth-restrictions for "Those people" in "That part" of town. Of course he claimed that he really just cared about the planet. Yeah...the planet, that's it!

What someone chooses to do with their body is none of anyone's damn business. There isn't a caveat to this statement that says "Except when I disagree with their ideology".

Because that's what you're doing, by trying to say there's a right or wrong number of kids for a woman to have.

I know their arguments are infuriating, and while I personally disagree with them highly and worry a great deal about women's health when they choose/are religiously coerced into having so many babies so close together for so long.... if I want it to be my body, my choice, I have to say "Their bodies, their choices" or I'm being hypocritical.

36. So,
Mon May 26, 2014, 05:03 PM
May 2014

what has any of that got to do with A WOMAN'S RIGHT TO CHOOSE? What about that aren't you getting? THEN you had to double down and talk about specific body parts which are NONE of your business. Justify it anyway you want but what it comes down to is you do not have arbitrary power of decision over if/when/how many children a woman has and, for the life of me, I can't figure out why you think you would.

Finally, your screed about taxpayers having to pay for these "knuckleheads" when your anger should be against the entities that take TRILLIONS from this economy. TRILLIONS of dollars taken from the American taxpayer, all with the blessings of this Congress, Senate and White House. Wall street, the banks, the 1%, they're the ones who, literally stole the wealth and you're worried about one family that you think has too many kids? Don't be such a tool and realize the PTB have a vested interest in keeping the poorer and middle class groups fighting for scraps. Screw that. Open your eyes and realize your ire shouldn't be at individuals or families that you think have too many kids or welfare mothers or whatever group you want to demonize, it should be at the Predator Class who stole all the wealth.

I am pro-choice, thus I support Michelle Duggar's choice in how many children she would like to have with just as much enthusiasm as I support the right of any woman to choose any way she deems necessary when it comes to her personal reproductive choices.

Anti-choice people make distinctions between choices made by those who choose to have children and those who do not.

That way, they could play flag football at family reunions with 11-man formations, and not have to invite the neighbors in.

Unfortunately, Michelle Duggar won't survive to produce 22 offspring...and she needs to stop doing it now. Forget the "clown car" meme, this shit is starting to look pathological.

God allowed them to have lots of children, so he must have wanted them to have them. Now that God put the brakes on, so to speak, they want to go against him and still have more. Have all the children you want, but don't bring God into it. He lets millions of children die every year.
