1. why would the "evil Sultan of Brunei" listen to a petition?

If he's evil and execute people, why would he change his mind based on a bunch of people's opinions from the other side of the planet?

We might want to stop brutally executing people here before we start telling other people how to rule their countries.

2. Perhaps we should put pressure on our own State Dept. They have a much louder voice.

the U.S should send a protest .. yes you Mr Kerry .. and perhaps the U.N. .. you just have to have more power than merely a petition.
