Pat Robertson Advises Christian Woman Not To Be An 'Enabler' By Accepting Lesbian Niece

Pat Robertson offered some eyebrow-raising advice to a Christian woman who said she was struggling over how to come to terms with her niece, who recently came out as gay, on "The 700 Club" this week.

The conservative televangelist, who is known for his opposition to lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) causes, told the woman that she should not accept her niece's lifestyle, and suggested that doing so would make her an "enabler," according to Right Wing Watch.

"The last thing you want to be is judgmental, but at the same time, you want to be loving and warm and let them know that you love them," he said. "If [your niece and her partner] are living together ... and you’re a Christian, you cannot say, 'I accept this lifestyle.'”

He went on to note, "Right now there’s an incredible barrage of activity forcing people to accept the homosexual lifestyle ... do we accept adultery? Do we accept fornication? Do we accept immorality?”

congregations they must turn their gay family members in to the police while they call for blood to be spilled. Pope Francis supports his Bishops' message.
While all on DU will sound off against old Pat, many will offer great praise to a man says the same things, has his subordinates say worse.
But yeah sure Robertson, look at him, not at the Bishop with a baseball bat and Francis cheering for genocide. Work that agenda. Hide that guilt.

First of all Jesus would absolutely have accepted this young lesbian. Look at with whom he associated? He associated himself with what would today be considered the dregs of society including prostitutes.

Second the Bible actually says nothing about homosexuality and homosexual persons. Any references to lying with a man as you would with a woman are in the context of social constructs at the time that approved of male sodomy in wartime, i.e. the conquered men and boys were ritually sodomized as an act of humiliation.

Third even if you would concede for purposes of argument that the Bible says don't lie with a man as you would with a woman you have to consider the following. It appears this verse is addressed to men. Since there is no corresponding verse for women it appears God's okay with women sleeping with either men or women. So lesbians get a pass!!!

Fourth, Robertson yes our society at least tacitly accepts fornication, adultery and immorality.

I wonder how many of Pat's audience they themselves or have children or others among those they have "accepted" have had sex with someone to whom they are not married. i.e. have engaged in fornication? I'll bet many.

How many of them have themselves or have children or others among those they have "accepted" have had sex with someone not their spouse but who was married to someone else, i.e. engaged in adultery? I'll bet many.

How many of them have themselves of have children or others among those they have "accepted" have engaged in what Pat probably considers immoral behavior such as masturbation, viewing and becoming sexually stimulated by pornography, have used "paid" services to meet their sexual needs...the list goes on and on.

Fifth, did Pat not get the memo? Jesus said the most important rules are to love one another and to love God. By rejecting/pushing this young woman away, he is instructing the aunt to break one of Jesus' primary rules. Does he not know that young people who are rejected by their families for their orientation or are bullied or ridiculed are exponentially more likely to attempt to or succeed in committing suicide?

He is such as god-less man. I am not the one to judge. Only God can do that but if I was a betting man I would bet Pat isn't going through the pearly gates but rather down the chute to the hot place.
