RIC student told police she was raped by multiple men at off campus party

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – - A female student from Rhode Island College told the Providence police that while at an off-campus party on Oakland Avenue a man pulled her into a room and she was raped by multiple men in the early hours of Saturday.

The incident occurred on the first floor of a tenament house, according to Major David Lapatin of the Providence police.

Police have arrested a 32-year-old man in connection with the sexual assault but would not name him while they continue to interview other subjects. The man is a student at Johnson & Wales, according Lapatin. The suspect is being held at the Adult Correctional Institutions.

The student told RIC campus security about the assault and they called the Providence police. Their prompt call to the Providence police helped the police to act quickly and gather evidence, Lapatin said.

Too often we hear about rape investigations handled internally through university procedures, resulting in a slap on the wrist for the rapists.

I wonder if the fact that the 32 year old is (apparently) not a student influenced their decision to contact the off-campus authorities.

and returned to the owners.

The ATV has no emotional trauma that can be associated with this theft. It didn't go into shock or cry or
scream. It will be just fine.

How can a rape even begin to be associated with some inanimate object being stolen?

The comparison is just cruel.

Explanation: No explanation given
Juror #2 voted to HIDE IT
Explanation: No explanation given
Juror #3 voted to HIDE IT
Explanation: At first I was going to vote to leave. Now, however, I've realized that this is an attempt to cheapen rape.
Juror #4 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: No explanation given
Juror #5 voted to HIDE IT
Explanation: Can't argue with that. This IS an intentional downplay of Feminist issues by CG, and it's a pile of crap. I'm sick of this.
Juror #6 voted to HIDE IT
Explanation: I almost want to vote to leave it, so the poster's shit-flag can be seen by all, but the obnoxiousness of the post compels me to vote to hide it.
Juror #7 voted to HIDE IT
Explanation: Agreed - this is disruptive.

Sadly this isn't the first time that user has downplayed rape.
