From all that I've heard, the Daily Mail over in Great Britain is notoriously unrealiable in its journalism.
Which begs the question for me: is there any type of equivalent here stateside?
The thing is, we have unreliable news sources over here. Plenty. But they all seem to be either mainly focused on celebrity gossip (National Enquirer) or highly politically motivated (Fox News). The sense I get from the Daily Mail is that it's not as much in either of those categories but instead just sloppy, unreliable journalism.
I'm just curious, that's all.

What there are no US equivalents for are the Sun and the Daily Mirror.

(21,786 posts)it's very much a reactionary right-wing populist newspaper. See for instance headlines on immigration: https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=%22daily+mail%22+immigrants&num=100&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=_8BnU66GJ6eQ0AXZ4YG4Bw&ved=0CAgQ_AUoAQ&biw=1359&bih=819&dpr=0.9#imgdii=_
It's a lot like what you'd get if Lou Dobbs wrote all the headlines for the New York Post.

(101,265 posts)As others have said, the NY Post could be it - tabloid values, but a right wing stance that comes from its owner. Fox News is the TV equivalent. I suppose the 'clickbait' nature of HP stories is a bit like the clickbait nature of the Mail's website - the right hand side is endless celeb pics, gossiping about who's put on weight or been spotted in public without make-up.

(4,524 posts)They throw out misrepresented stories with incendiary titles. Both have no journalistic integrity, and don't care whether or not they're reporting facts.
I suppose Daily Mail is a Huff Po-esque rag with more of a right-wing slant, whereas The Huffington Post is so concerned with catering to everybody (which = more clicks, of course) that it's pitiful.
Is Greg Gutfeld still writing for them? That he was not only allowed there, but had featured articles says all you need to know.
