Parents at a Forysth County park abruptly stopped a childrens baseball game after growing suspicions of the behavior of a man carrying a gun in a waist holster Tuesday night.
Hes just walking around [saying] See my gun? Look, I got a gun and theres nothing you can do about it. He knew he was frightening people. He knew exactly what he was doing, said parent Karen Rabb.

Crunchy Frog
(26,579 posts)I feel bad for the children, but often it's the parents who are complicit of even completely to blame, and those parents have no sympathy from me.
And this will still be what the majority of the people of Georgia have chosen form themselves and their children.

(1,957 posts)the worst thing a father carried to a baseball game was photos of his kid playing ball. "See my kid..see this is Tony pitching in the game last week!" Now it's show and tell from the gun crowd. This game is brought to you by the NRA.

(1,245 posts)More and more pipsqueaks are trying to prove their manliness by carrying guns. And state legislatures (who have their own issues with qualities like courage) are more than willing to enable them. As far as CCW and Open Carry advocates go, the term "responsible gun owner" is an oxymoron.

Bet a nickel when he was a kid that he would put his hands an inch away from his sister's face and say, "See, I'm not touching you! I'm not touching you!"
One of my dumber cousins tried that with my sister, who was not raised to take shit, and seemed genuinely shocked that he got bit on that same hand that he was not touching her with.
But you know, if there were no assholes in the world, we'd have to make some just to keep things from getting too boring. Looking forward to reading about this same asshole shooting himself in the leg on the ol' quick draw. I will laugh out loud, I promise, while saying, "I'm laughing, and there's there's nothing you can do about it!"

This county votes 90% Republican EVERY election. The May primary has not one single Dem on the ballot. They are huge supporters of Nathan Deal and absolutely love, love, love this gun bill he just signed.
These are nothing but NIMBY teapublicans.

(36,437 posts)Why shouldn't this TOTAL ASSHOLE flaunt his weapon at a kids' baseball game? That's precisely what the gunner crowd does rhetorically whenever you encounter them: HA HA WE WON...LOOK AT MY GUN...HA HA....
Hell, the vast majority of gunner shithead posts I see on the Internet is simply a minor variation of this asshole's theme.

(4,524 posts)It's ironic that people like this do more for gun control than gun control advocates could ever do. Nobody would care if the man had a reason to be there and had his gun concealed. His actions were threatening, and his only purpose there was to make it known that he had a gun.

The guy with the gun is white!
Think about it... Georgia.. black guy with a gun... semi-threatening...
Every cop within twenty miles would put several rounds thru that guy.

(28,252 posts)A person who is unsatisfied with carrying a firearm in a legal, concealed manner, who feels somehow compelled to openly and publicly exhibit a firearm, is a person who should rightfully attract suspicion. The brighter lights in the gun rights movement have recognized that Open Carry is toxic to their cause. It might be different if this country weren't awash in mass shooting incidents (and spare me the "We're Safer Than Ever" rants, DU Gun Enthusiasts). Given current conditions, why should parents trust a pistol-wielding stranger at their kids' baseball game? And "Because the law says I can" is not a satisfactory answer.

(32,685 posts)You reap what you sow, assholes. The other part of me is so sick and disgusted by this law. They passed this law, but said NO to medical marijuana, no to making insurance companies cover autism, no to Medicaid expansion...
I'm extremely disappointed in Jason Carter, who failed to distinguish himself from the crazies. It would have been OK for him to vote no. I'm sure there are republicans who are still sickened by what happened at Sandy Hook and other places.
And how convenient is it that guns aren't allowed at the State Capitol? They cover their own asses but everyone else has to deal with it.

(12,151 posts)Edgy, entitled white guys, strutting around armed, saying "What are you afraid of, haw haw?"
Liberals use protests and argument and peaceful resistance to apply political pressure. Rightwingers and corporations want to use guns. It's not anything other than that. It's not personal responsibility or home defense or what the founding fathers intended.
It's a scheme to sell more guns and to reclaim power by a dwindling minority, and it has the full support of interests which believe their money, along with the these dipshits' guns, should run the country.
They want to reel in civilization a few hundred years; make everyone question whether we really have a government and the rule of law. Maybe no one has to pay taxes, if there are enough guns. Maybe just people without guns need to pay.
Maybe a rancher or a mine owner gets to say what the law is. And hey, maybe slavery isn't completely off the table either. Did we really settle that, if you can set up armed camps and checkpoints, and dare "the feds" to do something over some COWS?
Next time maybe they'll rally around some poor mine owner defending his right to pollute from the commies in the EPA.
The NRA is selling this. Not target shooting or hunting or "responsible gun ownership." They are selling a paramilitary fantasy of physical threats to "government," which they have painted as the enemy. They are winding up some very confused, agitated people into a violent frenzy, for fun and profit.
And we are letting them.

(18,186 posts)Let's face it, Georgia is saturated with guns by now.
But think of all the kewl accessories and such you need now that you can brandish openly?
I'd like to see the stats on gun and gun-related sales relative to this legislation.

(17,387 posts)That way they can feel safe that they can return fire at the earliest sign of provocation. Heck, perhaps distribute "My First Gun" kits to the players on the field, so that they can be in on the fun.
