WTF: Student Strangled And Fatally Stabbed For Rejecting Prom Proposal

A 16-year-old Connecticut girl was fatally stabbed Friday morning in her high school stairwell, and students say she was killed simply because she rejected a prom proposal.

Maren Sanchez, a junior at Jonathan Law High School in Milford, Conn., was pronounced dead a short time after the 7 a.m. stabbing, police told Fox News. A 16-year-old male suspect is in custody.

The suspect is not being named because he is a minor.

Students at the school told local media -- including ABC News -- that the stabbing was a result of Sanchez declining to go to prom with the suspect. At a press conference, Milford Police Chief Keith Mello said he heard the rumor but could not confirm if that was the motive. The high school prom was scheduled for later that night, but has been postponed to a later, undetermined date.

A junior high school student told Fox News that Sanchez had a boyfriend, so she said no to the date. That's when the suspect began to strangle Sanchez before pushing her down a flight of stairs and stabbing her to death, according to reports.

No, she was killed because her boyfriend has deep-seated issues. Heartbreaking.

For some people, taking a life seems to be a minor issue.

Since I was a kid. About 85 houses cut off on all sides by freeways and water.

We had a few other names for it but that one seemed to be the most popular.

That was the original name for this area and it was rumored that there were Indian Burial grounds here (in fact, there is one that is known of but was never built on - rumor has it there were more and they were built over). Long before the movie poltergeist people were talking about the houses being built on grave sites here. Then they built freeways all around us cutting us off.

Lots of my friends/neighbors died pretty young, we always blame the 'curse'. Murder, suicide, cancer, car wrecks, brain tumors, etc hit a lot of people I knew in their 20's here. We still bring it up when someone dies 'yep, damned curse again'.

Personally I think the abestos in the shingles all the houses have drove us all insane
