He also noted that Limbaugh apologized for the first time in 30 years.
Speaking publicly for the first time since the controversy erupted late last month, Pittman said that advertisers leaving the program did not have a major impact on the company and there has not been a major move among stations to drop Limbaugh.
Until now, media inquiries about the show had been directed to Clear Channel's talk show syndication subsidiary, Premiere Radio Networks.
Yep...they think the shitstorm has blown over and its back to business as usual...

(144,945 posts)Limbaugh has a contract with four or so years remaining on it. Clear Channell is stuck with Rush until that contract runs out.

(397 posts)..The Right has never been particularly concerned with the opinions of the general population. That goes for everything from the White House down. It wouldn't matter most likely if you handed them a petition with millions of names on it. They would frame it and say at the end fo the day "Well, we did a good job! Look how many people we offended!" Still, we have to TRY.

(82,849 posts)But it seems that some grudge-holders continue to keep an eye on advertisers, blowing the whistle on them for spending their ad dollars on this vile human being's radio program. I'm sure Clear Channel and Premiere Radio have quite a bit of money on hand, but even they don't have bottomless pockets. Carrying a program for three hours a day five days a week with no ad revenue coming in isn't a sustainable business model.
Keep the pressure on. Nobody has the right to space on the public airwaves. The vile human being can just go back home and say anything he wants to the maid (when she isn't out scoring hillbilly heroin for him). He doesn't belong on the public airwaves.

(57,936 posts)but I switched to KPFK in part because KTLK added a Wall Street Journal/Murdoch show in the afternoon.
I miss Thom Hartmann, but KTLK was the only am radio that featured progressive talk, and, as a Clear Channel station, it chose to feature conservative shows. I want my old KTLK back. Too bad that Clear Channel has so much money and so much influence.
Doesn't Clear Channel have something to do with Romney?
