So take that however you like. It seems halting the roundup isn't good enough for these terrorists. They've been emboldened and now want more.

50. You sure do like that word
TERRORIST - even more than the Bushtards did.
More innocent Americans have been murdered by cops, in the past decade, than all of the US troops killed in Iraq. Thousands of defenseless dogs, beloved family members, have been killed by cops - just because they CAN. That's terrorism. Oh, and the 2nd amendment (like the entire Bill of Rights) is an acknowledgment of the rights of the people, not government agencies and law enforcement. |

65. I'm just wondering about the actual numbers, not the reality of police brutality. As for dogs: I
love dogs! Especially miniature dachshunds! And I give to the ASPCA regularly! I just don't equate them with humans (yes, I know; many are superior!).
I guess I'm torn. I despair at our militarization of police (personally encountered in NYC during the pre-Invasion protests). I despair at the "No-Knock" law that resulted in local men's deaths and subsequent police acquittals. I think the govt was criminal at Waco and Ruby Ridge. I was in college for Kent State. But I fear the armed Right-Wing "sovereign citizens" more. |

http://www.reviewjournal.com/news/nevada/bundy-blm-reach-deal-stop-cattle-roundup
By TOM RAGAN LAS VEGAS REVIEW-JOURNAL Rancher Cliven Bundy demanded of sheriff Doug Gillespie that all narional park service employees working on the cattle roundup operation be disarmed before 10:45 a.m. He gave Gillespie one hour to comply, and added for the firearms to be brought to him. The demand comes on the heels of the Bureau of Land Management pulling the plug on the roundup due to safety concerns. “Based on information about conditions on the ground, and in consultation with law enforcement, we have made a decision to conclude the cattle gather because of our serious concern about the safety of employees and members of the public,” BLM director Neil Kornze said. Many people in the crowd gathered in Bunkerville were demanding to know where the 500 already-gathered cattle currently are. |

44. Most people don't listen to warnings until it is too late, MohRokTah
In Italy circa 1920 people who saw the oncoming threat posed by Mussolini and his group tried desperately to warn the people about it.
They were told that the blackshirts were just a fringe movement and worrying about them was a waste of time. Many Germans scoffed at an Austrian born German army veteran and his followers down in Munich. There was no way these "National Socialists" would be anything more than a fringe movement they said. More than a few Democrats had guffaws at the expense of the Tea Party. What was the response? The Tea Party was just a "flash in the pan" and nothing to be concerned about. They were "too fringe" to ever do anything. The 2010 election proved that way of thinking to be very wrong. Now we're on the cusp of an armed conflict between the militia and their supporters and the government and, as usual, warnings about what's to come are either unceremoniously brushed aside or even mocked. Just like the apathy of the people of Italy and Germany allowed fringe groups to go mainstream and grab power I fear the apathy of Americans will allow these thugs to get bolder and bolder until a firefight is unavoidable. |

Then who will be laughing out of the other side of their faces? Won't be me. I'm done laughing at the wingnuts.
Sure, for the most part, these Teabaggers are fools and tools. But there are plenty of people you don't hear from, who are listening to all the rightwing rhetoric and wondering who Obama is going to come for next. All it will take is for enough things to hit a peak, and then that "1.8 million" people talked about in another thread really will end up trying to get rid of the elected government. Only it will likely be a lot more than that. They'll likely lose, but what kind of world will we be living in after that? Because you know it's going to change how America is run, after the military has to put down a second civil war. But what do I know? I'm just living in a state that was going solidly blue, and four years later was being run by lots of people with R behind their name and big corporations filling their pockets. |

The problem is that while people were having a chuckle at the misspelled signs and crazy rants of the Tea Partiers, they were putting into action plans to capture statehouses and now they have shored up their gains through redistricting.

63. In that situation the round-up stopped was the best choice when men with rifles could have
shot at any livestock trailers. The actual round-up corrals, and working helicopters, ground crews are generally out of sight of any public view.
The final step is loading the animals into stock trailers. Usually local people who are contracted to deliver the livestock to auctions or holding corrals. I think the BLM had to stop the round-up at that point because any of those armed people could have shot at the livestock trailers. They have to drive out of the round-up corrals and move on to the paved roads. I bet the Gov. security knows exactly who the people holding rifles were., They may be held accountable for those threats in some future action. Mr. Bundy too still owes lease fees and just like the IRS....you owe money to the Gov. they never forget. |
