Mitt Romney's Malibu Barbie Dream House! The cars have elevators! 3,600 SF basement! Outdoor shower!

Mitt Romney's four-car fantasy home

SAN DIEGO — At Mitt Romney’s proposed California beach house, the cars will have their own separate elevator.

There’s also a planned outdoor shower and a 3,600-square foot basement — a room with more floor space than the existing home’s entire living quarters.

Those are just some of the amenities planned for the massive renovation of the Romneys’ home in the tony La Jolla neighborhood of San Diego, according to plans on file with the city.

But it may not help Romney — whose wealth has caused him trouble connecting with average folks — to be seen building a split-level, four-vehicle garage that comes with a “car lift” to transport automobiles between floors, according to 2008 schematic plans for the renovation obtained by POLITICO that are on file with the city of San Diego.

1. Must be nice.

You have to wonder why someone who has it all wants the President's job. Ego? Adding to the trophy case? Enriching himself further?

4. Outdoor shower? It's still just a fucking shower!

A shower is something anyone can have. Indoor showers incur the expense of a bathroom, not to mention a house.

OTOH, you can't expect cars to use the stairs, right?

5. In defense

In defense of rMoney, have you ever seen cars try to climb stairs? At least someone is thinking of the cars and their inability to access the bathrooms.

I find it ironic that rMoney thinks more about his cars than the people who make them.

8. He hired a lobbyist to get approval from the local development boards.

That's five figures right there.

Who here can afford his own lobbyist?

10. Gosh, sounds like the residence apartments and office space in the White House

would be a step down for him. Why again does he think he wants the job?

11. This is all ridiculous. The timing is astonishing too.

I really don't think he cares how things look.
