Janeway?! Say it isn't show--so.

http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2014/04/07/star-trek-actress-lends-her-gravitas-to-film-promoting-idea-that-sun-revolves-around-earth/

A new documentary film, narrated by a former Star Trek actress, promotes the long-ago disproven idea that the sun revolves around the Earth.

“Everything we think we know about our universe is wrong,” says actress Kate Mulgrew as she narrates the trailer for “The Principle.”

The film, which is set to be released sometime this spring, was bankrolled in part by the ultra-conservative and anti-Semitic Robert Sungenis, who maintains the blog “Galileo Was Wrong.”

It amazes my wife how someone who worked on a show as progressive and forward thinking as Star Trek is/was that you can do something like this documentary...

it became hopelessly lost in the Delta Quadrant because it was thrown there...

And a 75 year journey to get back home can afford a few detours for a ship whose captain sees as part of its overall mission exploration.

Wasn't my favorite Trek series, but light years better than Enterprise.

It was far more contrived than TNG, but still had an appeal and some decent episodes. Enterprise was terrible. As was the last Trek film, imho.

I saw their names too and wondered about an agreement to appear in a film by a holocaust denier. I assume people might not realize they are being used to give a sheen of credibility to someone who is batshit crazy.

if they're using excerpts from others' vids - and usually have to pay for use unless the person is claiming it's for educational purposes only and not making a profit.

you can only use a few seconds of any copyrighted material w/o permission.

but permission may lie with whoever holds it for a film and not the person who appears in it.

Mulgrew is also an opponent of abortion and capital punishment. She received an award from Feminists for Life, a pro-life feminist group. She is quoted as saying "Execution as punishment is barbaric and unnecessary", "Life is sacred to me on all levels" and "Abortion does not compute with my philosophy."

You remember Feminists for Life, don't you? Does the name Susan Carpenter McMillan, so prominent during the unfortunate Paula Jones situation, ring a bell?

The amazing thing is that her husband once ran for Governor of Ohio -- as a Dem!

Or hell, I don't remember her before that either. I guess it's kind of like Henry Winkler doing the commercials for reverse mortgages. Who cares if you fuck over the old people as long as you make a buck when you're a has been?

Mulgrew is gonna have to live with this stupidity for the rest of her life, I'll bet.

It orbits the barycenter, which is sometimes outside the Sun.

Or even more technically it orbits where the barycenter was eight minutes ago.

Mon Apr 7, 2014, 08:42 PM

The contention is that the cosmic background radiation shows a preferential position for earth. I don't if this is the case (probably is not) but it is a far cry from believing the earth revolves around the sun.

Here is an article on the discrepancy.

http://www.nature.com/news/cosmologists-at-odds-over-mysterious-anomalies-in-data-from-early-universe-1.14368

There is a heck of lot we don't understand about cosmology (dark energy, dark matter, this phenomenon being three). The Theory of Evolution is far more defined and understood for example. A recent Scientific American article discussed how we can't even get the radius of the proton right.
