Obama: 'There Are Still No Death Panels. Armageddon Has Not Arrived.' 'Time To Get Over It'

"There are still no death panels. Armageddon has not arrived," Obama said. "The debate over repealing this law is over. The Affordable Care Act is here to stay."

Obama Tells GOP: Time To Get Over Obamacare
Touting the news that Obamacare had reached 7 million sign-ups, an almost unthinkable achievement so soon after the law's disastrous October launch, President Barack Obama sent a direct message Tuesday to Republicans and their efforts to stymie the law: Get over it.

"The debate over repealing this law is over. The Affordable Care Act is here to stay," Obama said Tuesday in the White House Rose Garden. "In the end, history is not kind to those who deny Americans basic economic security. Nobody remembers well those who stand in the way of America's progress or our people. That's what the Affordable Care Act represents."

The president's remarks followed an unprecedented flurry of good news this week for the law and its supporters. Enrollment beat the Congressional Budget Office's original projection, which had been revised down after HealthCare.gov website flopped in the fall. The Los Angeles Times estimated that 9.5 million previously uninsured people had been covered. A Washington Post-ABC News poll found that support for Obamacare broke even for the first time.

...

"This law is doing what it's supposed to do. It's working. It's helping people from coast to coast. All of which makes the lengths to which critics have gone to scare people, or undermine the law, or repeal the law... so hard to understand," Obama said. "I don't get it. Why are folks working so hard for people not to have health insurance? Why are they so mad about the idea of folks having health insurance?"

and the same goes for the legalization of Cannabis... It was tried, it worked, the world didn't spin off it's axis. So show the same fortitude and "get over it".

8. There are no death panels, and I support the ACA wholeheartedly, but I do have to caution

that, as a senior on Medicare, my co-pays, especially for hospital stays went up pretty greatly this year. I'm not happy about that.

The intent is not to piss on anyone's parade, but to acknowledge there are still serious issues. But hopefully the ACA is a step toward something better.

Can you imagine if the GOPers/RWers/Libertarians care enough for the 98%ers just like they love their for the 1-2%ers what an equal America it would be for all. But noooooooo, they are constantly beating down anyone who is not in a 1-2% bracket.

11. Dems (elected ones) need to stop hiding from this in hopes of winning the votes of people who will

likely never vote for them anyway. Instead, they need to get excited about what has been accomplished with no help at all from Republicans and get voters excited about what else can be accomplished if they just show up and vote. Pointing out droughts and hungry kids and veterans living on the street and blaming Republicans isn't going to work. (Even if it is true.)

What are the Democratic Party's goals and how do they plan to achieve those goals? Less rhetoric. More action plans.

Now I'm going to stop drinking coffee.

13. Deathageden

There is a death panel and Paul Ryan is the chairman of it, and Armageddon is coming, for the tea party and it's right wing lunatic fringers. But at least it's an Armageddon we can enjoy with popcorn and pizza. Watching the right wingers heads explode is always great fun. Can't wait to see the video of Glenn Beck in court being sued for being stupid. And Chris Christy eyes will look like Schwarzeneggers eyes bugging out when he fell out of the building on the Martian surface in "Total Recall" when Bridgette Kelly finally gets prosecutorial immunity and starts telling what really happened.Watching Scott walker explain his expulsion from Marquette University will be the cherry on the sundae. Popping the corn soon.

25. Hummmm

Scott walker left Marquette university under a cloud that he refuses to clarify. The rumor and speculation is that he was caught cheating and was offered the chance to just leave instead of being expelled. This is pretty common info here in Wisconsin, and seems not to bother most people, which in itself is disturbing. He will not be able to conceal the truth behind this if he becomes a presidential candidate, there will simply be to much pressure for him to not real ease the records that Marquette must by policy keep secret. The truth will out. There is of course the slim possibility that his refusal to account for his departure from Maquette is innocent and just a private matter.

First of all, it figures. These rugged "I did this all on my own" types tend to have something like this in their background. But secondly,
There is of course the slim possibility that his refusal to account for his departure from Maquette is innocent and just a private matter.

Yeah, that's the ticket. Of course, I wouldn't put it past Walker to try it.

Relaying the story of a woman with cancer was fitting since he lost his mom to that disease, and wanted better for other women:

"I remember my mother."

http://www.democraticunderground.com/110219099

Obama mentions Planned Parenthood, which he has been a firm supporter of it against the stunts of Rand Paul, the most vocal on cutting funding and trying to force personhood bills in budgets on the nation as a whole.

There are good reasons he is called the First Feminist President:

The First Feminist President, Barack Obama

http://www.democraticunderground.com/110212801

He spoke for America here:

"In the end, history is not kind to those who deny Americans basic economic security. Nobody remembers well those who stand in the way of America's progress or our people. That's what the Affordable Care Act represents."

That is the change we hoped for and received. Single payer is in the ACA for 2017, to which he alludes about simplifying in the speech. We are moving ahead. I won't go into the numerous talks I am having with all kinds of health providers and patients, and those who work to keep safe the poor, elderly and disabled, who have been breathing and sleeping better since the ACA passed.

As to his comments about medical bankruptcies and losing one's home, I can witness to that and the feeling of feeling valued as a human being again. When one has lost, and lost big time despite having health insurance and 'doing all the right things,' to the schemes the for-profits have foisted on us for so long, I know Obama's heart is with the people of this country. Those who have never been tested in that way, may never need to get a plan through the ACA, but their lives will be better too.

Thanks, SunsetDreams, for this thread!

I couldn't believe that there was an FULL video from Faux news of all places. That must have killed them to cover the whole thing.

Thank you for the links and graphics. I'm so sorry that you had to file medical bankruptcy and lost your home. That is horrible! It's just not right! No one should have to worry about keeping a roof over their head or paying bills when they or their family member gets sick. I'm so thankful that the ACA, while not perfect, makes it better.
