Rumsfeld bashes Obama on Afghanistan, says a trained ape could do better
"A trained ape could get a status of forces agreement. It does not take a genius. And we have so mismanaged that relationship."
-- Former Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld, quoted by the Washington Post, attacking President Obama for failing to secure a status of forces agreement with Afghanistan.

(14,733 posts)I think the defining moment in screwing up the country for generations to come was the pardon issued to Nixon. No man should be 'above the law', including the President. After that, it was inevitable that future administrations would simply sweep the crimes of their predecessors under the rug, rather than invite charges that prosecutions were politically motivated.

Rumsfeld has lost all credibility with the people of this nation. I cannot see where anyone other than far right wingnuts would take what he says into consideration for anything other than lying about going to war.
From Daily Kos:
February 2003, speaking on Iraq:
... it is not knowable if force will be used, but if it is to be used, it is not knowable how long that conflict would last. It could last, you know, six days, six weeks. I doubt six months.
March 2003, on weapons of mass destruction:
We know where they are. They're in the area around Tikrit and Baghdad and east, west, south and north somewhat.

(37,158 posts)Rumsfeld has a typical neocon's great confidence in his evaluation of international situations despite repeatedly being shown that they'd been completely wrong.
