Got this from my neighborhood wing-nut 'lady'.
After driving the U.S. more deeply into debt than any other President,
Want to know where Obamas 13 year-old daughter is right now with 12 friends?
On spring break in Oaxaca Mexico, on your dime.
She took two jets and 25 secret service men.
A thirteen year-old?
Why havent you heard about it?
The Obama Administration has had the Secret Service scouring the web ordering that any website mentioning this be taken down because letting the travel plans out could endanger the presidents daughters security.
Nonsense, the royal couple just want to hide the way they are ripping off the U. S. taxpayer
Only a few Canadian Web-sites still have it up, one was taken down while I was viewing it.

The Obamas are laughing at the suckers who are funding their Imperial Lifestyle.
This trip will cost more than most Americans make in their entire lifetimes.
My reply:
Malia, who is being accompanied by Secret Service agents, has been in Oaxaca for a school-sponsored service project.
The White House has a policy of not discussing the Obama children, but made an exception to say she was safe on Tuesday following an earthquake that rocked the area she's traveling in.
Several media outlets, including Agence France-Presse and The Huffington Post, pulled stories about Malia's trip to Mexico this week after the White House reminded them that they are not supposed to cover the children's private lives.

(82,849 posts)Well, there are probably several links, to photos of the Bush twins and their quietly dignified, mannerly comportment.

also: 25 SS? that seems excessive; do we have a way to find out if it's true?

(15,374 posts)Two-layer security, plus a supervising agent, minimum of two 12-hour shifts (although 3 8-hour shifts would be better). At least one doubling as medical support, or possibly a dedicated med tech.
And before anyone panicks about this speculation, it's nothing even remotely classified, this would be standard ops for any higher government VIP security. Common knowledge.

(1,735 posts)if something happened to the First Daughter? The repubs would all be shouting that Obama wasn't a fit parent. She attends a Quaker school and they have missionary projects all the time, like building a clinic or school. Better than the bar hopping exploits of the Bush Twins.

(53,410 posts)It would be so easy to fall into a get even match with people like your neighbor. Just civily present them with the facts enough times and they'll leave you alone at the least. And you never know, they might actually absorb some.

(5,067 posts)And the reason givien for putting the warning on the State Department site is:
The State Department warning about traveling to Mexico, issued in February, did not say Americans shouldn't go there but warned "crime and violence are serious problems throughout the country and can occur anywhere."

Are they going to put a warning there for traveling in Florida? Or any state with a 'shoot to kill' law? Seems to me they should.

She quit sending me that shit.
Now she's sending them with no email addresses showing.
Guess she thinks it's OK now that I can't zing her in front of others.
I usually just delete them, but not this one.

(23,654 posts)for personal travel. Maybe not for the whole cost (security etc), but a reasonable rate based on commercial rates. Also when the President and his family vacation in Hawaii or on Martha's Vineyard their accomodations are usually contributed by a supporter.
People are so petty.

(32,080 posts)The First Family, regardless of who they are, pays for their own food, clothing, personal travel (i.e., vacations), laundry detergent, dish soap, linens, etc. The only food for which we pay is for state dinners, and possibly a few other exceptions. Whoever wrote that e-mail is a liar. I also doubt the "25 secret service agents" claim, too. Yes, Malia has her own agent(s), but that comes with the territory.

(12,882 posts)Revel in taking the flimsiest facts they can scrape up and using them as an inciteful veneer to a bulging bag of bullshit. Then they share it with their nitwit compatriots to help keep their fantasy fabrications alive. Since there's no REAL transgressions to fume about, they keep the faith by concocting and perpetuating lies like this one.
