The Douglas County election commissioner has announced no intention to change his plan to close half the polling stations in the city. But opponents of the plan are not going to drop the issue, said attendees at a 75-person rally in front of commissioner Dave Phipps’ office Thursday.

“It’s not a North Omaha problem, it’s not a South Omaha problem, it’s an Omaha problem,” said Willie Hamilton of the NAACP.

About 20 people met with Phipps on Monday, asking him to reverse the changes.
