Why Has Nancy Grace Been Silent About Trayvon Martin On HLN?![]() After years of becoming the news world’s loudest voice whenever the public becomes obsessed with a wrongful death (a trait that’s made her a ratings leader for her network), it shouldn’t be surprising that people automatically assumed she’d be all over the Trayvon Martin case. And that’s why it is surprising that the HLN host has basically been relatively silent on the subject.
There’s been no “Tot Mom”-esque nicknames, no clear accusations of guilt. Over at TVNewser, they pointed out that Martin hasn’t been discussed once this week on Grace’s show while the other prime time shows hosted by Jane Velez-Mitchell and Dr. Drew Pinsky devoted tons of air time to it (Velez-Mitchell even donned a sweatshirt on air to get in on yesterday’s hoodie march of support). TVNewser writer Alex Weprin ventured a possible explanation for Grace keeping mum: “Another possibility is that Grace, who usually presumes guilt, whether it is in regards to Casey Anthony or Whitney Houston being “pushed” under the water, isn’t on Martin’s side in this case.” http://www.mediaite.com/tv/why-has-nancy-grace-been-silent-about-trayvon-martin-on-hln/

7. Missing White Woman Syndrome
It just doesn't show up on her radar...
While the disappearances of Laci Peterson and Natalee Holloway became sensational news stories, a pregnant black/Hispanic woman named LaToyia Figueroa disappeared from Philadelphia three years later and attracted less national attention, despite efforts by her family to enlist the media to help find her. (Figueroa was later found murdered.)[4] One observer also saw contrasts between the attention received by Peterson and Evelyn Hernandez who was nine months pregnant when she disappeared in 2002.[5]

spotlighted and receive no attention. I don't know what makes certain stories become sensational over others, but there are plenty of white families who try and fail to get media attention for their loved ones.

dang morning. I sure am tired. I ended up with our 2 grandkids spending the night. My husband, son and his wife went to the Soccer game in Nashville to see USA vs Cuba. My my USA won. Well I got sick kids and a hubby cough. I am still trying to get over my cough. I just can't sleep in the double bed with my hubby and 3 little dogs who just don't give me room. So I am on the rocker, LOL. At least I can have it to myself. I am going to be dang tired this morning. I worry about my granddaughter she sure is sick and has been out of school for a week now. Thank god they have spring break next week. Maybe we can clear her up.

3. You have no idea...
Earlier today...I'm currently 6 hours ahead Eastern. I was doing a search on Nancy Grace and Trayvon Martin to see if she said anything. I was like this woman has been so vocal in the past she must be saying something over this. I was definitely surprised when my search turned up absolutely nothing. Plenty on them independently but nothing about Grace addressing the Martin case. The woman is just a television shock personality with a high level degree and a big mouth.

This thread would not have even happened, if just one of the dog-pilers would have checked on the truthfulness of the original statement. 25. Better late than never
Since you don't know anything about her, there is a reason for the "piling on."
In 2011 a New York Times article David Carr wrote “Since her show began in 2005, the presumption of innocence has found a willful enemy in the former prosecutor turned broadcast judge-and-jury." He criticized her handling of the kidnapping of Elizabeth Smart, the Duke lacrosse team rape case, the Melinda Duckett interview and suicide and the Caylee Anthony case. George Washington University law professor Jonathan Turley told Carr that Grace, as an attorney and reporter, “has managed to demean both professions with her hype, rabid persona, and sensational analysis. Some part of the public takes her seriously, and her show erodes the respect for basic rights.”[14]
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nancy_Grace#Controversies Nancy Grace's guest-hosting stint on Thursday's "View" became testy when the conversation turned to Grace's controversial comments about Whitney Houston's death.

http://www.hlntv.com/video/2012/03/22/17-yr-old-trayvon-martin-shot-death
The entire premise of this thread is bogus. Lets look at some of piling on, which is not at all related to her past: Last time I looked, Trayvon is not a missing, blonde, white female thought that the shoot first ask questions later law was just peachy. her nose is planted firmly in the butts of rightwing corporations who seek to divert us from real issues. She's of the mentality that the police can do no wrong her base audience doesn't care about this...they're idiots like she is. She's working on an exclusive interview with George Zimmerman. It's going to be about how traumatized he is after being forced to shoot that criminal in order to protect the well-being of everyone in his community, and to save his own life in the face of violent aggression. Not white. Not female. Not killed by a black person Not one of these statements is backed up by anything more than mere speculation...and people may be doing that because of past experience with her....but come on...do a Google search. The premise of the thread, that she had not made a statement about the case (and the subsequent snarky comments) is just flat wrong. Again, I don't care left, right, or sideways about this woman...but the dog-pile over a false statement was just absolutely amazing to me. |
