Tim Tebow to be traded.
Where's your Jesus now, moron?

(28,017 posts)I suspect that the distraction that is Tebow was too much for the team.

(24,382 posts)then you know it's time to lose him.

(344 posts)Because he sucked. No one cares what religion you are as long as you can win.

(8,556 posts)Not saying it was all him of course. It's a team effort. But the Broncos made the playoffs and won a wild card game. That's a pretty damn good season.
no argument there. It was a great season for them.

(162 posts)He sucks as a QB in the NFL. His team won because they didn't play anyone, including in the playoffs.

(8,556 posts)Whose division sent three teams to the playoffs?
I would argue the Tebow haters are the ones with blinders on. If Tebow were a firebrand liberal and public atheist, his performance would be lauded here - hell, even Dave Zirin would probably like him (or at least talk less smack about him).
He's not an amazing player, but it's not always about that. It's about winning games and they did that.

(12,132 posts)Steelers stunk that day, no question. Tebow got a lot of help from his players and the Steeler D. 80 yard TD pass in overtime? You don't see that often. All Tebow did was toss the ball for a couple yards - his WR did all the work.
But I don't hate on him for being a lousy QB or his god-fearing ways. I hate him because he was a GATOR.
NB: Gator hating does not extend to Emmit Smith because that's how Football is.
"If Tebow were a firebrand liberal and public atheist, his performance would be lauded here"
You are exactly right. I didnt care one way or the other, I just thought the whole "controversy" was hilarious.
RZM
(8,556 posts)Which has surprised me a little. If nobody else cared about him, I probably wouldn't either. But I kind of like the guy. He seems genuine about his faith and from what I know, he spends a lot of time volunteering and giving back to the community. His displays of faith are a little cheesy, but so what? Faith on the field of sport is nothing new.
Plus he made a great underdog sports story, as does Jeremy Lin. He wasn't expected to do well and didn't begin the season as a starter. Once he did start, he helped turn the Broncos' season around. Not only did they make the playoffs, they actually won a playoff game. His numbers were atrocious, except in the fourth quarter, when they were amazing - and that's when it really counts. It's also just plain fun to see the haters eat crow.

It's not just Tebow, it's all the nuts in our state, the types who say Obama was a muslim, who go along with him.

(33,688 posts)Bring in a lead-pipe-lock Hall of Famer and ship Tebow out ASAP. The best quote about Tebow had nothing do with his religion - "Watching Tebow try to throw a forward pass is like watching a moose try to f**k a washing machine." - Matt Taibbi

(24,721 posts)"...after a season with Tebow, the Broncos don't have any receivers who remember what it's like to have passes thrown in places they can actually catch them. My guess, though, is that after Manning barks at them a few times in practice they would figure it out."

(33,688 posts)Getting jacked up by Peyton-effing-Manning, the best QB of his generation, will have a remarkable effect on the concentration of the Bronco receivers. They will take a couple of practices to adjust to their great good fortune.

(51,076 posts)Damn we can like the bronco's again without listening to the tebow crap. I'm not religious and I don't like someone showing their religion like he does. I don't parade around, whatever it would take, showing my atheism. So why should I have to put up with his choice. BTW when I was young and impressionable and when I read the bible it talked about it being wrong what he is doing or thats what I came away thinking. Anyways not wanting to get into a religious duel here.
Peace
I just really meant to say I am happy for the news that Peyton is going to the Bronco's, thank you
sometimes i's just gets carried away, sorry. 'In my best okie drawl'

(13,211 posts)AS of 1:40pm EST I have not heard there was a signing. Buts its a lock.
Get something of value for Tebow, a draft pick, and you never know who might be available as a college QB over the next year or 2.
Does that make Denver a lock to wing the division, at least on paper, I think yes.
zappaman
(20,606 posts)And I couldn't be happier.
Sure, he pulled out a few games in the 4th quarter AFTER sucking for 3 quarters and AFTER the defense kept it close.
Good riddance!

Then what?
Tebow may have not been the greatest player, but he did bring a lot of PR and he sold tickets.
Regardless of whether Tebow is annoying or not, I think it was a bad business decision to get rid of him. It would have been smarter to have him train under Manning and give him another shot in e few years.
JonLP24
(29,322 posts)With the exception of a couple of replacement games during strike season. They don't need Tebow to sell tickets.
Better to train someone else that already knows how to throw the football w/accuracy.

(8,224 posts)I am ok with it.
The Jets have had a fondness for nicked up previously great QBs. They get one or two modestly good seasons out of them, but never a great season. Tebow should go to Jax, Tampa, or Miami, where he will sell lots of tickets.

(4,788 posts)about how the refs are going to protect Manning. I swear I can see it now - a defensive player gets to within 4 feet of Manning and is called for roughing the passer. Oh well, at least neither Manning nor Tebow are coming to Baltimore. I hope that Manning doesn't get injured while playing for Denver.
