Scarborough: Lewinsky Could Be Fair Game If Hillary Bashes GOP With 'War On Women'

Invoking Monica Lewinsky against Hillary Clinton could be an appropriate tactic should she decide to pursue the familiar 'War on Women' attack on Republicans in 2016, MSNBC's Joe Scarborough suggested on Monday.

"If Hillary Clinton attacks the Republican Party's handling of women, and treatment of women and disrespect for women, and suggests they’re misogynists et cetera, et cetera, et cetera, it does seem to be a fair question to ask right now, a few years out, does the media have a responsibility to say, ‘Well, let’s see what happened when you were in the White House, and how women were treated when you were in the governor’s mansion and the White House?’ Is that fair?" the 'Morning Joe' host asked Monday morning, as quoted by Mediaite.

Members of the show's panel were discussing Sen. Rand Paul's (R-KY) suggestion on Sunday that even though the Lewinsky scandal was not Hillary Clinton's fault, it could affect her prospects in 2016.

Paul said that Bill Clinton's "predatory behavior" impacted his ability to talk about the Republican "war on women," but Scarborough thought it might affect Hillary Clinton as well.

I said on my show this week that their world view is so stridently anti-women that they can't help but repeatedly insult women when they try to talk about women's issues.

"If elected president, I will work to make sure that unnecessary and humiliating medical procedures placed on women are abolished." - Candidate Clinton

Republican Noise Machine: "Her husband had an affair!"

Women Voters: "Never have I seen things so clearly before... I'm voting straight ticket republican!"

This is even stupider than thinking Palin was going to attract Hillary women voters just because they both had ovaries - who cares if their positions are probably completely opposite each other?

this WILL come up. Scarborough can go fuck himself, but he's right that it will be pushed as an issue. The big issue won't be about Bill's treatment of women, though. The repukes will come with all sorts of people from shady corners of America discussing how the Clinton campaign (which Hillary was an integral part of) handled women who went public with allegations. They'll tell stories you've never heard before from people who seem to have recently "come into money", but they'll be there. As many as Faux news can schedule in a day.

Hillary can't talk credibly about women's rights or abortion because her husband cheated on her fifteen years ago.

Makes perfect sense!

Remember when Bill Clinton left office with high approval ratings after GOP used the affair to shutdown all government functions not involving blue dresses. Don't you think most intelligent campaign people would assume if the public gave not a crap about the affair when it happened that they wouldn't give a * now either. The Lewinsky scandal cemented in a lot of people's mind that the GOP has nothing to offer America. Most people felt embarrassed for the Clinton's to have their private life not only smeared in the press but in the actual legislative branch of the government. More than that the press had a witch hunt for Congressional cheaters and many a GOP candidate fell on their cheating sword to much LOL acclaim. Do you really want to remind America of all that again?
