(12,233 posts)But what he said about the term "thug" being a newer, more polite term for calling black people, and black men in particular the "n-word" is pretty spot on. It isn't often that I would find myself saying it would be more than peasurable to have a conversation with a NFL football player and have the conversation mentally stimulating and facinating. Stanford and a 3.9GPA is nothing to snuff at. Also, the context of his speaking out about the issues, taking them head on, and not shutting up is awesome. He is intelligent enough to out think most of the idiots who are calling him names, the sportscaster's having to wade into the politics and racial inequalities of owner/ player/ fan in a low key sort of way to try and take everyone back to "happy go lucky" football in America (they are really wishing he'd shut up), and the owners who are wealthy beyond reasonable (mainly due to being part of the lucky sperm/ egg club). It's truly amazing how many people with twitter and facebook accounts whose actual names, jobs, locations, and community just out and out call this man the n-word OR a lower key "thug", but mean the same damn thing... Or that the fans got so bent out of shape because a mic'd up player in a high intense game said what he did (I'm assuming the person he was talking about was white to add to further insult to our low hanging fruit of society).
